Try xyz maxhine tools and Excel machine, they make some fairly good and reasonably priced Bridgeport turret mill clones.
I would drill then bore out to the the top of the noggin and then get a parting tool and scoop out enough matl so yo can get a boring bar in however you will need a left hand and right hand boring...
Hi Greg,
Will the machine run in manual mode?, also do you have to manually reference the axis up?, if it is an old machine, you usually have to, however I have never come accross that kind of...
Hi
I come from the home of british steel Sheffield(well it used to be the home of British steel)
Hi Nick
Think I understand your engine design now, I think that you will have difficulty getting enough cooling on the cold cylinder, pherhaps you could develop a simple water jacket, around the...
Hi Scott
Here is the pic of what I refer to as SR bars and cutters
Cheers
Tim
Have you tried using an SR bar and cutter mounting that in the quill, however having bored plenty of holes in plenty of metal you could really do with boring the part in a lathe.
Is this engine similar to what I would know as a low pressure atmospheric engine?
The machine is horrible, but I inherited it and have had to make it work, I had the clutches rewound and the pressure plates replaced a couple of months ago, on all four clutches, The power is coming...
No I havent checked the transformer under load, I will do that in the morning, Ill let you know what happens.
Cheers Tim
Russian bits don't look like Euoropean bits(female russian shotputters), there are 2 capicitors on the board but I am not sure how to check them, as for the coils they are all showing a continuity of...
Just Out of curiosity, doesn't a steam engine like that need some way of retarding it, my understanding is that they just run faster and faster until the go into self destruct mode,
Cheers
Tim
I don't think you can, but someone may know better.
Help!
I have a a 1975 stanco lathe with electrically operated drive clutches.
The clutches are desined to receive a 12 volt supply to operate the coil, however they are only receiving 8 volts so...

Just as a matter of interest
Im interested in what members think are the best, strongest and most powerful real life machine tools, for example we have a Poreba lathe it has an 800mm chuck and a...
To be honest I would have fired them both on the spot(uk law allows you to do this its called gross misconduct and fighting is gross misconduct). Work is a place you go to for 40hrs or so a week,...
If you look at the www.sheffieldforgemasters.com you will also see that they quite often double chuck the parts with one chuck at the spindle and one at the tailstock, which is a fairly common...
My understanding is that the tailstocks are hydraulic and that there is a constant positive pressure kept on the work piece, they also used very big traveling steadies that support the work piece,...
Swarf or chip conveyors, contrary to popular belief are not a one size fits all package, sounds to me like you are using a conventional track conveyor when you really should have used a drag...
If its a cnc machine, infact just about any mill you should be able to push as switch, programme an m-code or flip a lever to get the machine running cw or ccw, as a matter of interest does the...
Check this site out http://www.sheffieldforgemasters.com. they have the capability of casting, forging and machining some of the biggest parts in the world. Sheffield forgemasters is one of the most...
Fianally found that the M codes are to alter the spindle gearbox ranges, thanks for the poiter Al didn,t see it at first on the machine, because there is a toggle switch that changes the display...
The largest lathe I have ever seen was a Crawford Swift LT4700 that would take a 90ton load betwwen centres, I think origanally it was used in the power industry to produce turbine shafts on(like...
Cant you just take the motor off and have it rewound to a 220v single phase?
Never ever pay the list price for a machine tool new or secondhand, on new machine tools the dealers are looking to mark them up 35% at least, some of this is to cover there shipping expenses, but...
Anybody who left a job to go and work for another company but then was fired after 2 days without having been given a reason is going to be upset, I did read some people saying that the guy may not...
Hi
when you do your tapeshot, you align your the hole in the tape to the hole in the nozzle you will find that unless you magnify it so you can see clearly, you won't be able to see it properly....
Yes I did Al and nothing noticable appeared to happen, however there is something that appears to be a hydraulic bar feeder with the machine(I think), but the machine is set with a 3 jaw hydraulic...
