And back to the original point. If you want to compare the cost of Tormach to HAAS, it should be an apples-to-apples comparison. Bare-bones is half the cost, and when you start adding on...
Check the Novakon forum. Quite a few people there made the conversion.
Haas TL-1 base price: $25.2k
Spindle upgrade from 1800 rpm to 3000 rpm: $1885
rigid tapping: $1435
User definable macros: $2000
(all stuff needed to match the stock Tormach capability)
The...
That would be elcome news. The thing that scared my away from the SPL over the years was the painfully slow rapids speed.
Pricing new to used is apples and oranges. The companies selling the used lathes have often reached a point in the lifecycle of the lathe that the expected repair costs and associated downtime make...
Can you point me to that? I haven't seen it, and don't see it on the Tormach blog or website anywhere.
There is a very active Skyfire group on facebook. Recommend you check them out.

I am with Ray. I have two 3D printers... frequently both of them are running around the clock. I maybe end up scrapping 1 in 20 parts. Almost bulletproof, and "dialing it in" isn't hard.

Syil America? Hard to believe they are still limping along. They had quite the checkered past in their day, back when they were Big Dog Metalworks. But that was years ago.
It is probably...

3D printer won't destroy a $50 endmill and punch a hole through your vise or table because you selected the wrong offset or screwed up zeroing you axis. Won't sling your part across the room...
I suggest you go to the Syil section and start reading. Maybe jump back a few pages (which is a few years) to when there were a few unhappy customers. It was an active forum about a decade ago, and...
What brand/model is the VFD?
Andrew Jackson paid it off completely. And then refunded money to the states since the Tariffs were above and beyond what the Fed needed. The states squandered the money, and the next...
Yes, a 15A rated 3 phase switch will be plenty for the 1.5hp Tormach motor (each phase carries about 7A at full load).
You are not the first to do this; there is at least one other person on this...
Pathpilot version 1.7.2 (which you are using) was released on 15 April 2015.
The RapidTurn product was released in June 2016, and a new version of pathpilot was released to support RapidTurn at...
So why don't you just chuck them up in a 3/4" R-8 collet? Assuming your raw stock is 3/4" in diameter? Or a 7/8" R-8 collet with slightly larger stock?
Or if they are undersized enough that the...
Can you physically feel any of those marks? If you drag your fingernail across the workpiece, can you feel any ridges?
Can't you just move the carriage to where you want your "safe height to be, and push the "SET G30" button? After that, it should stay at that position until you reset it again.
Or does it change...
I was wondering the same thing....
You are trying to apply logic to a situation that has developed from an impulsive action.
That would tend to point to Tormach integrating the Mesa 7i92 card into the electronics cabinet, so you can plug into it with ethernet cable instead of having to run a DB25 cable.
Which...
LOL. You want made in the US, add 50-75% to the price.
And even then, it will just be "assembled in the US because they will be importing the castings, since there aren't too many domestic...
So... the big news today is that there will be a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT tomorrow.
yah.
The picture makes it look like the rumor of both a 770M and 1100M are true.

Interesting. 1100M,...
Not if it is still using TTS. You going to up the spindle HP than you need to shift to a more secure machine taper in the spindle.
here we go again...
And it has been so pleasant for the past year or so... ever since the Moderators brought out the ban hammer.
rigid tapping, faster spindle, and an improved base with better coolant drainage. 'bout time.
some nice upgrades right there.
Wonder what the M" in "1100M" means?
If your PP controller is like mine, and came with only a single 1 GB RAM stick in it, then considering throwing in another stick. PP2+ and the new OS takes more memory.
Tormach has been amazingly constant in pricing over the past 4+ years. But standby for that to all change in a heartbeat.
I solve that little problem by using a cherry keyboard with integrated touchpad:
