I liked the fact that there isn't any engraving, picked up bit and did some of my own...
The tactical machining 80%'s are pretty nice, I used their jig to hold it while I CNC'd the trigger group area. (got blue prints of the lower and created a drawing from them)
I destroyed my first...
Welcome to the madness :-)
Any more details on the ballscrew and nut that you found bladehunter?
Very Cool Hoss, nice work
seems I was a bit optimistic about how accurate the cuts where when running a program, seems the deeper I cut the farther off it was, which makes sense.
Changed the steps per on the controller -...
I recently converted a 7x14 lathe, funds or lack there of has forced me to use the stock screws.
I'm using a automationtechnologiesinc.com 2 axis setup.
My Z axis seems to be working fine, the...
would definitely be interested in one
can't wait to see what you've some up with
bummer, there are so many variations out there I'm sure there is a RAMPS firmware with acceleration or there is someone working on it.
hard part is finding it though.
This is the Jetty firmware , it's based on the Marlin firmware.
can be found here Jetty Accelerated Firmware by jetty - Thingiverse
so far its been very impressive, the speed increase without...
Trying out some new firmware, has acceleration in it, MO' Better.

you're going to enjoy it, I built my makerbot and had a good time.
once you get assembled the real work begins :drowning:
getting everything tuned and working smooth takes a bit of effort but...
That's a good read, he's done some thorough investigation.
My best layer (and go to height) is .25mm I still have some issues, zits and what not but it makes up for it in the nicer, easier to...
No need for expensive plastics, just print the ball and snap it off when finished.
I printed several like that, there are a couple different version available on thingiverse
...
Finally took a look at this site: RepRap: Blog
The Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 post is what I went to look at, he's printing at .01mm on a Prusa Mendel, what really intrigues me is he does it with ABS...
The threaded rods and moving platforms are plenty accurate, at slower speeds.
It's when you try to up the print speed that they show their weaknesses.
But even with a platform that only moves in...
I've made a few mod to my TOM, first was a nice spool feed for the plastic

the second was a new driver, had a real problem with the...
Actually they already have one 3D Printers - CNCzone.com-The Largest Machinist Community on the net!
Just kinda buried and slow (probably because it's buried)
They are fun to play with and...
He's right, would be much better/stronger to print them out separately and use good glue to put them together.
Nice thing about ABS is you can make some nice glue with scraps and acetone
I do believe the ABS is a bit stronger, the PLA tends to be a bit more brittle, at least that is my understanding.
I haven't played with the PLA yet ( I have a roll waiting) most of what I've read...
Geeez, I really need to frequent this thread more often, I have a makerbot thing-o-matic, lots of fun printing things in ABS, they are surprisingly strong too.
Biggest issue is getting the printer...
Thanks, it really show how much difference a good model can make, thats one of the whistle revs, 2, I think.
I printed the original whistle model as well and it didn't print nearly as nice....
I would stick with sf35 for a bit, with repg25 they really only had the machines settings for sk35' was a major pain to get sk40 working.
I'd like to get sk42 running with repg but I still haven't...
It's working well, no 3d printer experience, the biggest hassle so far is trying to figure things out, most of the answers are out there but they're strewn all over the place.
Using ReplicatorG as...
made the move to using "Volumetric 5d" as its called.
big improvement in print quality right way.
with a bit more tuning it should be fantastic.
lot less hassle to tune, although getting it...
yeah saw that, bit bummed that I missed getting the latest head by a month, they look good, got some great ideas for using a pair of them, but that isn't going to happen anytime soon
yes I'm using the mk6+ head, could hardly image trying to do this with out a stepper controlling the plastic feed.
I'm trying to figure out how I can get the volumetric 5D stuff working, so far no...
got it last moth and had fun putting it together, the acrylic sheet looks nice but I think its a poor choice of material, most of mine has cracked even though I made sure to not over tighten the...
kinda wish I had seen this sooner, just finished putting a thing-o-matic together, oh well.
Might still do this to my cnc mini mill, would let me print some larger items
I really like the adjustable stops, great idea.
