    Series II 4J 4-HP Vari-Drive Bushings

    Hi folks,

I'm trying to address my very noisy vari-drive. I have the motor and top cover off, but now I'm having these issues:

    1) Can't get the top bearing off of the driven pulley shaft. Seems...

    Re: Continuously lost Z

Solved: The cutter pulled the quill down. Took me a while to realize that could happen because of the helix angle of the tool. I'll go with lighter cuts and reef on the quill lock.

    Continuously lost Z

    Hi everyone,

I just had a weird thing happen that ruined a fairly pricey piece of stock. The program was supposed to be making a series of concentric planar endmill cuts. Instead of being...

No motor hooked up. Tried L1 and L3 with the same result. If I blew something, is it likely to be evident if I open it up? If so, where should I look?

    Re: VFD Fault

Ok, so I performed the reforming process but only took it up to about 145V. Based on absolutely zero knowledge of elctro-chemistry, I decided that should be enough to build up the oxide layer. During...

    Re: VFD Fault

BOOM! Al for the win! Pretty much the smoking gun right there...hook up single phase to L1 and L2 and get a derated power of 3.5 kW. Why on earth they don't put that manual in the box is beyond me,...

    Re: VFD Fault

240V +10% is 264V, so we're both saying the same thing. 265 is obviously a touch higher, but I'd be really surprised if they cut it that close. That's just the no-load voltage as well...it will drop...

    Re: VFD Fault

It's a 2201, rated at 5hp normal duty. The last page of the manual says the AC supply can be up to 264 V.

I got my buddies transformer...it's a Powerstat 116, rated at 120V 7.5A. Does anyone know...

Ok, back in the office. Looks like quite the debate on which terminals to use for single phase input. I double checked the manual for this SK2201 and still find NOTHING about connecting to single...

    Re: VFD Fault

    Hey mac,

Really? That would be pretty sweet. None of the litterature says anything about that, though, and I've had a really hard time finding any drives over about 3hp that claim to take single...

No, only 2HP, but the drive doesn't have a single phase input option. Just using it for speed control.

    Re: VFD Fault

Yeah, my plan was just to leave the barrel switch in the forward postition for now, and if I decide I like running with the vfd and want to keep it, bypass the switch.

    Re: VFD Fault

I'm just using it for motor speed control. There is a barrel switch between the VFD and motor but I believe I kept it in the forward position.

    Thanks!

    VFD Fault

    Hey folks,

I got my hands on a new Emerson Commander SK VFD for free and figured I'd use it on my SB13 lathe. I hooked it up to the 3-phase power from my RPC and it powered up just fine. I...

    Lead-Ins Don't Respect Boundary

    Hello again,

Cool. So you have the ability to change the tool length in the program on the fly? I don't think my controller is setup to do that. Or have I just not found that functionality yet?
