  1. Re: Looking for control board recommendations

I have no experience with LinuxCNC,
but in an Italian forum there is someone who made a 5-axis with EtherCAT and explains step by step how to do it.
If anyone is interested the links are:

    Linux...
  2. Re: Looking for control board recommendations

Actually "currently" means "constantly" working on NC/EtherCAT.
An NC system never ends; you are constantly working on it to add new features.
In a nutshell, I have been involved in the...
  3. Re: Looking for control board recommendations

I have been working on an NC board project with Ethercat, so I feel I can list the advantages and disadvantages of this motor control system.

    - Ethercat is particularly good for 5-axis systems...
  4. Re: Looking for control board recommendations

What is your budget price for a NC Board which support EtherCAT for Delta drivers ?

Re: stepper motors get weak with age??

Steppers lose magnetization with high temperatures.
Therefore, if vector drivers with encoders are not used that limit the use of the current supplied to the poles to only that which is needed, it...

    Re: Best CNC controller

    Let's have some clarity.

With the NC program, you define the path for the tool to run.

The CNC control, once it has transduced the NC commands into movements of the joints (physical axes) will...

    Re: Best CNC controller

In the world there are standards, which try to define the guidelines and starting bases of a technology, in this case the RS274D-NIST standard is one of them.

    Re: Jerk Control in machines

    Re: Jerk Control in machines

Keeping it simply, the Jerk in a movement system is the derivate of acceleration. In case of a constant accelerated system the jerk is infinite at first change of speed. The strenght of jerk effects...

    Re: Jerk Control in machines

Re: Mach4 5 Axis Saw profile

To mill with a Saw you need of a CNC board with 5-axis multi-machining RTCP with G43.7 and a CAM to create right G-Code to keep TCP on saw cut border element.

    Good test !

Using another CNC board and software with same axis parameters I've got 4'18"

  19. Re: Pumotix Is Up To 23% Faster Than Mach3, Mach4, and UCCNC...

Multi-axis speed depends by many factors.
Remove hypotetical any difference in how different CNC creates motor commands. All works same for following notes.

The things change a lot if CNC support...

Re: Help!! Is Masso a 5 axis option

If you want to get into 5-axis continuous machining you need an RTCP capable CNC as well as the Rosetta CNC has.
RTCP is very important with 5 axis for a lot of questions but overall to get a fluid...
  22. Re: Can you recommend 5 axis controller board?

When you work with 5 axis RTCP feature is a must, so search a CNC board which support RTCP.
  23. Re: Can you recommend 5 axis controller board?

    Depends by 5 axis kinematics.
If the kinematics is a classic Head/Head or Table/Table the post-processor is simple to do. In a lot of CAM's the math is already made and you need only to configure...

Poll: Re: How fast is your homemade CNC?

    New build for plasma cut:

    X/Y at 88 m/min (brushless)
    Z at 25 m/min (brushless)

    X 12500mm
    Y 2800mm
    Z 270mm
  29. Re: 5 axis head/head homemade CNC - gcode generator

Internally a CNC with RTCP applyes the kinematics arms in every point which is...
  30. Re: 5 axis head/head homemade CNC - gcode generator

To resolve the kinematics for a table/table in CAM post-processor engine is not impossible, Fusion, Cimatron, etc, at example, does that.
The resulting toolpath is poor, obviously, feed on TCP can...
