Oops grammar error. The YCM is cheaper than the Haas.
Haas are not reliable by any means...there are so many better machines out there in the same or very similar price range. So many people buy Haas based solely on the control, the made in the USA...
How's the 4th axis drive? We had similar issue and found drive was out. $$$ ouch
Russ

Little update. President of power automation is flying in to Florida next week to meet with my father and a few investors. I think just the control no motors is under $10k. Don't hold my feet to the...
Oh forgot to mention check out jet lathes. We have one in our tool room. I think new they are just over $2k but they are a beefier machine.
Russ
Hey man just because it's a big boy name like mori doesn't mean it can't still be a hobby. Good luck man. Hard work and determination will pay off.
Russ
It sounds like overkill but it's something to look into. A bigger machine will give you flexibility to get more work down the road.
Russ
You don't need tight tolerances or crazy features. Just a 2 axis lathe. I would seriously look at a 20+ year old cnc lathe with fanuc. You can find them all over eBay for 5k. If you have the jobs...
And I was referring to used not new.
Russ
Any production on a manual machine will be obviously very labor intensive and slow. Repeat ability and part consistency is tough to achieve.
You really want cnc especially if you have families...
Ever get this resolved?
Russ
Roger. The sherline is a good little lathe. May be spending a little more than that but your looking at the right lathe for what you're trying to accomplish. How many parts are you trying to produce?...
What's your budget
Russ
Take a look at YCM. You folks will be very surprised. They have an nxv mill in the same price range as a loaded up haas vf3ss. Ycm is as close to Japanese quality without the price tag. Their...
Sounds good. Good luck! Bad ass machines
Russ
Have you contacted Eurotech? They have great phone support
Russ
Used Eurotech.
Russ
Check out eurotechs if you're doing production.

Hermle is def the most expensive of the choice. But in the long run it is the more overbuilt machine. (Just look at the casting). I still feel in the long run even though it might cost a little more...
Yes Gil the inventor was a smart guy but any updates did go with him.
I will get you in touch with the right guys at power automation. Doesn't hurt to look
Russ
I totally understand. We'll chat about it in the near future. Have a great week
Russ
If you haven't found a machine yet I have some fadals in that price range
Russ
Trunion style are good for small 5 axis parts. Some companies such as Hermle make very large highly accurate trunion style. They are faster than bridge style but limited to part size. If you are...
I've sold a few on eBay. Also premier equipment in Florida is the largest used dealer in the country if you're interested in that route. They pay good money for used machines.
Russ
Hermle by far is the best choice. Very solid one piece casting for rigidity and vibration absorption. They have a very solid spindle design with safety crash prevention in the spindle so you only...
Production?
