Machine a vacuum jig, hook a shop vac to it.... It works for small parts but won't suck through mdf like the 40 hp Decker I use on my day job!
Yes, sets the g code parameters to the machine controller. You should be able to download a post processor from either mastercam or artsoft websites
Are you talking about a post processor?
The newer versions are much more user friendly. If you're good at 9, you'll love X5. Geometry, construction planes, the icons....yes use the newer version.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Yes the new version has some great features. Unless you are rich and can afford to upgrade, ask yourself does V9 still do what i want? Can it spit out code that...
I saw some great videos on X8 ... Glad to see some of the new features. I run vericut and our IT guys are having trouble with
the mastercam interface. The collision avoidance is real interesting.
Can't tell much from that picture. What material are you cutting? Can you plunge into the part? Ramp into it? You have options.
Cad model? Can you create geometry of your slot? Can you locate an origin on your part and relate it to your geometry?
For that price, you can't go wrong.
YouTube it
I love MasterCam and use it at work every day. I also have a 48 ×48 × 12 machine in my home shop. I got the demo cam bam but I just don't like using stl files. I bought some of the vetric programs...
I downloaded a few days ago... the new solids manipulation tools are nice. I probably won't go All the way with it yet. Maybe after the first maintenance update.
Stress relieving should help
I use a clearance plane when programming five axis. Those are incremental moves and I try to give myself extra room to clear the part before the thing starts twisting around.
Set your retract above the part. I use 3" retract with 1" feed plane. On the smaller router I'll use a 1" retract and .5 feed plane.
Have you tried sync by entity?
I am just outside Augusta Georgia. And yes cnc is a great tool. I think the more we get involved with it the possibilities for opportunities to improve the total process will be realized. ...
I've been a patternmaker for 32 years and no one has every called me a carpenter...just a sign of the times I suppose. Looks like another lesson in patternmaking isn't needed. Glad to see some of...
We figured it out. We found the screen with all the variables. Also that you can use I J and K as over rides. It's pretty interesting to see the thing work.
We are having trouble programing a bar feeder on an SL20. We can get the stock to load and the push rod to activate, but can not get the stock where we want it. Does anyone have a sample program...
I have a few comments... I am a patternmaker by trade and am taking cnc classes at our local trade school at night. I am a product of trade school myself in the late 70's learning patternmaking. I...
Mastercam because that is what the local tech school teaches. I don't really like it, most of my CAD experience is Autocad. Mastercam is not very user friendly. I work for a pump manufacturer so...
Have you thought of redwood or cedar? Watch those splinters...
I have a dome shaped surface that a want to project lettering to. I post the toolpath as an .nci file and project it to the surface. The lettering is the shape of the surface but is above it. We...
Hey all,
I've been a patternmaker for 26 years. Old school, hand made wood working patterns. I'm taking cnc programming classes learning mastercam 9. Any comments?
