go with the counter weight. hanging from roller chain and use a sprocket arrangement that allows you to double the lift capacity by trading for distance that counter weight moves. this helps with...
maybe I can help. P.M. sent
I was making some custom washers the other day and thought it would make a decent demo video showing how the cnc and tool turret really shine for parts like this. I have it programed to automaticaly...
If your quick small operations are one of a kind type stuff you may not benefit much by conversion. but it will open up doors you never though of. Like if your quick manual operations are in...
You wont be disappointed if you go with the PM1236, It a very nice machine. I have one that I converted to cnc a cpl yrs ago, but believe me it was a tough decision to convert it because it was...
I think it depends on the size of the thread and the material being cut. Single point makes a nicer thread but your not going to be able to thread small holes like 1/4-20 with a single point. Or...
I built the turret completely from scratch. I did some research on turrets that other people had built and really didnt like any of them so i kinda designed mine around what i liked and disliked...
And heres a cpl quick shots as it sits right now. Ya its a lil dirty I have been super busy, not much time to clean right now. All the stuff i did is powder coated so it cleans off real nice.
...
Heres a cpl pictures from just after i converted it. I have changed a few things but this gives you the general idea of my basic setup.

I use Mach3 Lathe. It was a lil strange to me at first but works well.
did you try putting the chuck gaurd down then turning on spindle? My PM had a safety switch that wouldnt let the spindle turn on without the chuck gaurd beeing down.
I will see if i can find some...
Its been a long time since ive been on here, but i seen your post on cnc'ing a pm lathe and it caught my attention. I have a 12x36 that i converted about 2 yrs ago and have put a ton of hrs on it. ...
The z axis cover is nothing more then a pc of sheet metal we rolled in the roll and bent in our brake. The bottom of it is open but this seems to keep most of the swarf off of the screw.
Heres...
Well I have been busy ass heck but have managed to add some swarf guarding and wire track. I have also finished the mount for the z axis so it is not longer held together with a c clamp, lol. The z...
I thought about the manual combination which would be easy on the x but the z is another story. I run a powder kote company and had an employee point out the fact that i haven't touched the manual...
The x axis is 16mm the z is 20mm.
a lil vid of the first parts made by cnc

Well its been a rough 5 days but i managed to make some parts on the lathe running as a cnc today. It prolly would have been running in 3 days but i ran into a snag with the encoders. Which i...
i thought about the rotating nut design also but decided to just do it right and mill out the carrage to accept the nut. I will probably modify the nut a but also. I'll figure that out when the...

One more thing i forgot to mention. There is currently not enough clearence for the x axis ballnut. So I will have to make some room for it on the mill.

Well the time has come to cnc my PM 12X36 lathe. Ive had the lathe for about 9 months now so its due date is here, lol. I luv this lathe as a manual machine and was going to scratch build a lathe...
Ok so,
The end result of my problem ends up being that i needed capacitors on my encoders. All is well now no faults at all since adding them.
The 320x drives are awesome pieces of...
Thanks, a ton. I think the problem is that I left out the capacitors. It seems i built the machine right before that support document came out. So I have added a cap to the z axis so far so good. ...
I have swapped everything including wiring and even tried going back to the old B.O.B. the problem remains the same.
Its not mechanical because i removed the belt from the motor so there was...
well the problem still exists, even after puting in a ground rod and good ground cable. So it was just a fluke that it worked ok for a couple days.

Im about ready to put everything back...
the wires are about 4-5ft. I tried a short wire about 2 ft and still had the same problem.
Im thinking it may be the ground, because its better now then it was. And yes the ground I used is not...
Well just as I suspected the problem remains the same. I did get a good 10hrs of running it without any trouble, so maybe im on the right track. Or just lucky for a day....
This is driving me...
I have checked all connections and wiring multiple times.
I ruled out interference from the vfd by not powering it up. the 320x still faults in the same manner.
I have uncoupled the drives so...
