Are Tormach passive probes good?
I installed PathPilot on an old home made system with a 4 or 5 year old Gigabyte mobo. No problems other than those unique to PathPilot.
I threw in the towel and re-loaded Tormach's Mach3 and license. Works great except my Vista lights up ut doesn't function. I've forgotten what I originally did to get it operating. The other...
That's the one Tormach sells as a GMC and yes they are quiet and parts are available from Cal Air. Mine lasted three years before it flat-lined. I replaced it with a near new 60 gallon made in USA...
Awesome customer service and support. I speak from very recent experience.
Awesome Support! I sent an email to Tormach regarding my difficulty with G41/42 in PP and a problem in Mach3 with a "Please Wait, Generating Path" message that would pause execution after each...
Thanks, Phil. I'll give it a shot Wednesday. I already ran the job so I'm safe if things go south. Also, I have Tormach's Mach3 disk, the Mach3 restore disk. and the license disk. So, I should be...
I'll check it out, the PP manual doesn't give any details. I really like PP but also want to be able to use at least the basic commands.
Yes, manual coding. I do have some software, but for simple pockets and/or peck drilling, they seem to me like taking heroine for a headache. They tend to generate a gazillion lines of code for...
Well, I was able to run the job in Mach3. It was a straight forward, simple program to do some peck drilling, cut three pockets and a slot. No 3D stuff. Used G41, G83, and G98/99 for four...
Thanks, actually I had to leave PP for a while b/c in spite of being listed in the user manual as a valid instruction, I couldn't get G41 to work. So I went back for now. I've had the "Please Wait,...
In Tormach's M3 I get "Please wait, drawing tool path." I can't make it stop and it's driving me batty. After each instruction the machine pauses while the tool path is slowly redrawn. I cancel it...
I'll mess with it today and let you know if I have any success. I really like some aspects of PP. No Windows, isolation via the Mesa card, etc. I've considered Mach4 but I believe it's still just...
How to implement G41 or G42 in PP. It seems not to be supported. It doesn't want any part of cutter radius compensation. This is very useful when manually coding. Never gave me trouble on Fanuc...
I reloaded PP and all is good now.
Keen,
I experienced a rather odd problem. My PP won't accept a program name in the Oxxxx format, e.g., O1234. I believe i'm running ver. 1.9.3 but as I'm recovering from surgery, I won't be able...
How are subroutines accomplished in PP?
That book and a few scraps of metal, wax, or wood will take you a long way. Remember, there are only three basic moves possible: +/-X,+/-Y, and +/-Z and they will do a lot for you.
Do take a few minutes to learn at least the most basic G Code commands. With just G0, G1, G2, and G3 you should be fine with pockets and profiles. Practice on some scrap or even a piece of 2x4. ...
I'll give it try because I really miss M98/99. Those are handy for guys who manually code.
As I recall, at C.L., two of the critera are that the item be novel and non-obvious.
Since my "shop" only has three walls, corrosion will always be an issue. What I had on my prob appeared to be one of the oxides of copper, "ic" or "ous", I don't remember which, but it was the blue...
Well, I checked it with a VTVM, remember those? Electrically, all was good. So I kicked up the feed rate to F15 and everything worked well. F15 seemed too fast so I dropped it to F10 and it still...
Thanks, mine has been sitting in the drawer for several months. I break it down and clean it. I still have my Haimer but I'l like to try something with the Passive Probe.
Bob,
Thanks, I'll check them out. I really miss my Vista. Tormach doesn't want to hurt sales of their pendant thing and Vista must figure we're too small a market to bother with.
What's the secret to making Tormach's passive probe work in PP? I went to setup and selected the Passive option, still no dice. PP tells me the prob has been triggered. It hasn't been. I can even...
Since Vista doesn't seem to have time to support their pendants on PP, is their another comparable pendant that would work with PP?
I would want it to be at speed before it even moves.
Mike,
I want to go back to work so I can get some rest!
Mike,
From Vista, as of July 19, 2015: "We are working on the driver right now, will have it in few weeks." It would seem Vista is not interested in working with PP. We've been orphaned.
