I agree with the comments regarding adjustment of Z gibs, etc.
I use the All-Power 3 flute standard length 3/8" carbide end mill generally at .095 WOC, .500 DOC, 4000 RPM and 65-90 IPM depending...
Steve you speak the truth. Tormach customer service has dropped to a new low again recently. 5 years ago it was borderline stellar (very good). 3 years ago it become spotty. Now it is dismal and...
In my opinion it is. We will likely go that route with this machine soon.

Received a 770M yesterday. I have to say, it is a very nice machine when I compare it to my S3 1100. Lot of great upgrades to the electronics panel, connections, and more.
The stand is awesome....
Sneak peak of something I'm working on...

Love my Tormach 1100S3...and there's a 770M inbound too.
Will be curious to see how we like the newer M series and how it compares to what I've grown to know and love.

I've experienced essentially the same, and the 3/8" Alu-power cutter is my go to for most roughing ops, unless I need something longer. Then I grab the 1/2" by same mfg. Key to making the 1/2" work...
Stronger spring stack is not hard to achieve. My machine arrived with 6 springs, I originally bumped it up to 8. That works well if all is clean and happy, PDB coated correctly with anti-seize etc....
Personally, I don't see how a break in routine such as you describe could hurt. It's very similar to my morning turn on routine - not so much for warm up but allows full cleanup of anything I missed...
In my experience, the current release is rock solid!

Thank you for the link and for sharing. Sort of tempted to try and pull something similar off with one of their all in one touchscreens - thoughts on this? I have no need for the computer to do...
Thank you. Tried this early on thinking similar issues. Issue seems to simply be getting worse with time. Something is failing so I'd best be prepared.

Circa 2013 controller that I upgraded to Pathpilot a couple years back. Recently have started having issues with the USB ports on the back of the computer. Initially I thought it was the touchscreen...
I don't see anything in the way of a mini iTX board in the enclosure from the videos. I do see a door on the lower right of the machine. There is also a cable that says controller communications...
This was during break in of a rebuilt spindle/fresh bearings. Runs substantially cooler since. Using the good grease because I had it. I believe it was about 80 degrees in the shop that day.
WW
Thank you. What is the Stroke x1 x2 etc. setting for?
WW
Subscribing to follow along, as well as ask a question.
How is the length of cut set?
Thanks,

Personally, I wasn't able to make the 3/8" TAS work any better than the 3/8" YG1 AluPower (about 3.8 MRR on the latter, 3.1 on the former). I found the TAS to be noisy and fragile. I'm sure I could...
Upgraded to 2.02 this morning. Touchscreen worked fine throughout. Only issue I had was dropbox stopped syncing - quick fix.
So far has run smoothly for ~8 hours and >100 tool changes.

On the Beta releases, it has. Wait a few days...my understanding is that it is about to go public. Working flawlessly for me at the moment.

What the heck - if I were to ask for a *2200* from Tormach it wouldn't be much larger than the 1100...but would have 2hp spindle with encoder, >200 IPM rapids, and 20 station ATC.
But I'd just get...
Yes, the beta patch has cured the issue 100%. Im sure Tormach will make it a public release shortly.
WW
Brief update - I have a patch (beta) from Tormach and running for past 3 days, issue appears to be resolved.
WW
Tormach has been responsive, and in fact just yesterday afternoon gave me some things to try. I hope to be able to give that a go today, and report back to them if the patch is successful.
WW
An update - the issue persists. It even occurs mid-day at times. Wondering if anyone else has seen this?
Working with Tormach (have sent them log files, etc.) they've been able to recreate it.

Initially I assumed the issue was tied to G59 (because that's where my startup program runs from, then finishes with a G54 command so I don't inadvertently reset G59). However, it occurs regardless...
To my knowledge, I'm the only one experiencing this bug at this point. I've given Tormach support all they asked for as of last week or early this week (forget at the moment) and have yet to hear...
