    Re: Cutting contours

I have one. It sits on a shelf, being nice and quiet.

    Re: Cutting contours

No thanks. Tumblers are much more quiet. Maybe slower, but I'm okay with that.

    Re: Cutting contours

And here are the actual parts. This is after tumbling. They will be powder coated and the surface is fine for that, but I wouldn't want to anodize them like this. I would probably tumble them for a...

    Re: Cutting contours

    Thanks for the replies.

Here is a typical example. So how smooth the angled surface is is what I am thinking about.

    Cutting contours

    PCNC 1100 3 here.

I make a lot of parts that have contoured surfaces. Or angles, elipsoids, etc. And I tend to simply use SprutCAM's waterline operations and a relatively fine depth of cut with...

    Re: Spindle Heat

I regularly point an IR thermometer at mine to check it. After about half an hour at 5100 or so it is never over 85F. My assumption being if the bearings are having issues the temperature will go up.

    Re: PP 1.9.6 available

I've been using 1.9.6 for several projects now and the only issue I have seen is in MDI mode. After sending a line by hitting the return, PP pops out of MDI mode. I am fairly certain this was not...

    MDI type ahead

I imagine this has been covered, but I missed it.

Using the MDI, I often type ahead. For example, the last operation I will enter M5 to stop the spindle when that finishes.

    But this doesn't...
  9. Re: v1.9.2 is out... who volunteers to be the guinea pig?

Running it today. One glitch while updating, but a reboot and 2nd attempt worked fine.

    Re: Offset changed somehow

I had an odd offset thing happen today after updating to 1.7.2.

After updating, I referenced the 3 axis, loaded a SprutCAM generated program I have been using for weeks. Since PP 1.5. I then used...

Glad to hear it can work.

I will be using a flat bed photo scanner. As long as the plane I want to scan is at the glass, it should be accurate enough to go.

I asked Tormach about this as I am wanting for a scanner, but have moved to PathPilot.

They suggested waiting until they get this figured out for PP. Not sure if there are other solutions...

Re: ER32 holder seems way out of balance

That sounds too loud to me. I would talk to Tormach about it.

On my 1100, I made a huge different sound wise by simply replacing the belt with a new one. Bought from Tormach. But that doesn't...

Re: Lifting bar links look a little thin?

They look the same as the ones I have.

I ended up buying an expensive shackle and hook with a swivel to hang mine on due to the complexities involved in my installation. It wasn't impressive...

Re: Huge amount of backlash on Y axis

My Y axis has always had backlash of about 0.002 or so, maybe a tiny bit less.

So for grins, I tried pushing on mine and was able to move it about 0.005. I was surprised.

    But I had a thought...

Re: ER32 holder seems way out of balance

For what it's worth, I use the balanced nuts Tormach sells for ER20 holders and they do seem to make a difference vibration wise.

I don't see that they sell the same for ER32.

Would this new hardware Tormach is adding to the controller computer mean that Tormach could add a fifth axis?
  21. Re: What is it that you do to make $$$ with your Tormach?

I don't make any money with my Tormach either.

    SprutCAM 9 updates

  28. Re: Losing steps and ruining parts, help me, you'll be my hero

Most of my programs have at least some helical machining. No problems.

    Strange stuff.
  29. Re: Losing steps and ruining parts, help me, you'll be my hero

Personally I would stick with the version Tormach provides.

I have about two years and well over 100 different parts on mine and never a Z issue like this. I use SprutCAM and Vectric Aspire when...
