Here's a good place to start looking. BobCAD uses Windows Truetype fonts, so just install the appropriate font, then do any cleanup to the lettering after you add the text, and explode it.

That drew some serious "Aww!" sounds from my wife. :) Nice job, and a beautiful sentiment.

It's a bit ghetto, but you could DIY it, using whatever conventional motors you could find cheap. The Woodgears fellow has done a couple of homebuilt impellers that seem to work well, and you've...
I don't see why that wouldn't work.
Do you plan on post-tensioning the column? It won't see huge loads, but the repetitive nature of what loads it does see could conceivably cause the column...
Heya, jrmach. :) I've been lurking for a while. Job keeps me too busy to do much work with my machine, but I'm cutting a few things here and there, and of course, evolving my machine. I've decided to...
The choice really comes down to what you like, or rather what she likes. BobCAD uses the standard Windows fonts on the computer, and there are thousands of different ones that you can download,...
CNC is great for a lot of things, but making simple shapes is not its forte. Dowels are a very poor use case for a general purpose CNC router. They're cheap, available in many sizes, and most of all,...
Try setting them both to 0.0001, in both the <Settings> [Part] and <Settings> [Default]. it's a tenfold difference, and may fix your issue. I started with v24, and it's very capable. You should...
Dang it, I goofed when I reset my tolerances and the first screenshot is not what I actually use. Here's the correct numbers. Sorry. Set those as your Defaults, and they'll automatically apply to new...
Jcarpenter2, I'm glad you started looking at the capabilities of BobCAD's decorative toolkit, and I'm especially glad I could help you get started on it. I'm just about certain that your problem with...
It'll depend on the graphics controller that's built in to the laptop. In general, if it has an ATI, AMD, or Nvidia graphics controller, then you can probably just plug a second screen into the VGA...
In general, Windows handles dual monitors very well. Differences in resolution are not an issue. If your card will handle the higher of the resolutions, and has multiple outputs, you should be fine....
Hi Niko! the voltage formula is for the ideal maximum performance of the stepper. They will run on lower voltages, but won't develop their maximum output until the voltage reaches that value. In...
There are quite a few wooden and/or MDF designs out there, and you can most certainly build a good, working hobby class machine using wooden structure. If my quick google search on Sidewinder CNC...
Scaling in BobCAD is very easy. I attached a screenshot from V24, showing that file, with a copy scaled 10X. The red arrows indicate the <Translate> button at the top, and the <Scale> and <Copy>...
Yeah, that's probably it. I got it fairly early and never signed up for software updates. Thanks! :)

I haven't had any luck opening the file. v27 gives me a "Machine does not exist" error, then crashes. Anyone else having this problem, or is it something I'm doing wrong?

Oops, I missed one other thing. In the upper right fang, the tooth is closed off from the rest of the geometry. I [Quick Trim]med, two segments out to open that up, and it then selected properly....
EDIT: It's late at night, and I'm an idiot. I opened V24, and was trying to find your geometry in the default BobCAD 1 file... First version of this post said I didn't see anything to work with. :(

I haven't tried the v28 demo yet. If they've put a real tab wizard in, router users, especially, will rejoice!

Some cool work, indeed! JR, glad to see you finally got around to that calendar. It's awesome! Are you going to do any unusual finish work, like anodization, etc., or just go with the bare metal...
Hi Jr! :)
I had some family issues come up, with my elderly parents, and then about the time I got things sorted out, I found out that a lady I've known for years is now my fiance, so that's taken...
Hi Jim :)
The simple version is, BobCAD doesn't have a tab feature built in, and the BobNest addon was a bit quirky and cumbersome, last time I looked. That's the bad news. The (sorta) good...
I'd be more concerned with pixel count than overall size, personally. 1080p is pretty low resolution for a screen that close. Bear in mind that a lot of smartphones pack that many pixels into their...
There hasn't been any change to BoBArt since the move to BoBArt Pro during V25. If you have BoBArt Pro, then as far as I know, you have the latest and greatest. (Look under [Help] <License> in the...
Did some sign work for a friend's new store. 1" deep Vcarving into 2" thick foam. The big one is about 23' long, in 3 sections. Smallest is cut from a single 8' sheet. My machine needs 3 setups to...
Just the things from that video had me pretty fired up. Big changes at a fundamental level. Here's hoping for a smooth launch, and a good experience with it! :)

Thanks, SBC Cycle, You pointed out some things I didn't realize about how the Sim can affect the .stl. Good stuff to know. :)
Luke
lol, I wasn't paying much attention to what I was doing when I opened the file. Just clicked it and Windows apparently had .dwg associated with V24, so that's what I ran with.
Oh, something I...
