You can also do just a finish cut. Without the rough step FC cuts out the part without milling everything off. Go to the milling tab for that tool and set the finish passes to more than one to get...
OK, I found an air driven spindle that I think will work.
http://www.airturbinetools.com/hss/602cat.html
So I searched on how to lock the spindle and M19 will lock it at the tool change...
We are making vivaldi antennas http://mwrf.com/Files/30/19382/fig_01.gif and that requires a slot that is 0.032 wide. I am thinking this would be a good opportunity to hit the bosses up for an air...
All,
These are the files we need quoted for delivery to; 2335Irving Hill Road, Lawrence, KS no later than 07/02/2009. I can't stress enough that the deadline must be met.
I am including quoted...
Hi I need these parts back to us in Lawrence, KS no later than 7/2/09. All parts are aluminum 6061, tolerances of +_ 0.001. Couldn't get the .zip to upload but if you are interested I will email it...
I'm using 2007 Version 13.1.0.40. We are making a custom handle for inserting and removing hard drives from a radar chassis we built before. I have posted my FC files and an .igs at...
Good news for me is that our aeronautical engineers came down on the laminate three pieces instead of mill out one piece. I couldn't get the EE's to listen to me but they will listen to another...
Goin' to a barbecue cook off and will get back to this later.
Need to kill off the weak brain cells.
The liver is evil! It must be abused!
I don't know how rigid a TM-2 is. Seems rigid when I lean on it! Probably much less so when milling stainless.
If I do shallow Z cuts don't I run the risk of work hardening the material?
The...
I'm looking at a slitting saw on Iwentool's website part # EF53-012.
I will need a good arbor also. More toys!
'made in USA' tools actually made in USA? Any good?
Who is the guy I read...
Wouldn't you worry about the end mill wandering? I have had bad luck trying to put a long slot or groove into material with an end mill.
Just my experience which is not extensive.
Excellent suggestion.
I will try that if milling the slot doesn't work out.
Anybody know where to find carbide tipped side mills that are small enogh to do a .230 slot?
That is one of my concerns. I mentioned doing the three part thing but then it would 'need' to be welded.
It's going under the wing of a Twin Otter and needs to take the stress. I don't have a lot...
I am milling stainless for the first time on my TM-2. I need to buy some tooling and need advice.
These are the parts I'm milling.
I have turned my spindle up to 6000RPM.
I use Feature CAM...
Nope no lathe. We build radars and a lathe would be unused 99.9% of the time. Besides the limited space.
There are lathes on campus but I would have to wait who knows how long for someone to do...
Sorry got busy and didn't have time to be here.
I work at a University and don't get to reject jobs just because they are impossible!
I just need to drill and tap tube about 3/8" deep on one...
I have a TM-2. I do not have a lathe. I need to drill and tap round tubes .375 in diameter and approximately 21 inches long.
Haas says the Z on the TM-2 is 16". I measured the clearance between...
I broke a couple hundred dollars worth of taps (cutting and form with the correct size drill) working with the Haas customer service engineer. Super helpful and knowledgeable. I use Feature CAM and...
Only one spare? I must be (am!) a klutz.
The Physics Machine Shop here on campus just turned out a box that is incredibly smooth. I don't have the tools or knowledge to give you a hard number but is very impressive to my eye.
Hate to admit it but I don't know how to use a 1 2 3 block. I just bought a pair from McMaster http://www.mcmaster.com/ 8630A74.
I need to get parallels ends on a .5x.5 aluminum bar.
I thought I...
MSC has the probes also. http://www1.mscdirect.com/cgi/nnsrhm?KNC-T7L391316886
At the $100 and below mark.
I think the probe is made of ceramic and would guess that is for thermal stability. They...
I have an Inventor file that I need done in FeatureCAM v.12.2.0.23. I want to have it in the exact same version that I have please. I can send my tool crib and specify which post to use. It needs to...
I found the old post about turning off the rounding in FeatureCAM 2006. I looked for the setting but couldn't find one. I'm about to cut my first piece with square corners and like to avoid scraping...
All excellent points.
I think you will find that is more a function of your graphics card than CPU. Tom's Hardware just did a comparison and you can get a powerful 3D card for $100 now....
As a complete newbee to CAD/CAM I bought FeatureCAM and after a couple of months I am now milling some realtively complex pieces.
There is a getting started book and a user guide on the cd. But the...
Selling FeatureCAM 2006. See classifieds on CNC Zone.
I work for the University of Kansas in Lawrence. I have Solidworks 2006, Feature CAM 2006, and a Haas TM2. I'm an electronics technician trying to learn this stuff on my own. We measure the ice...
