This may be way off, BUT how is the motor/encoder itself. I replaced the brushes on my Y axis BOSS 9 a year ago. It's more accurate now, and I did originally assume it was something mechanical.

For anyone else who might need this info. Here is what I found out.
Ohio Carbon P/N's
motor brush 1110291B
tachometer brush 1110362
each motor takes 4 of each brush.
I was able to source...
Does anyone know where to buy servo brushes for Boss 9 R2E4? Servos are powertron MODEL# 402CNSP0S72
Doesn't Ajax use some other method of changing the spindle speed by using the original pulley system?
Seems the original spindle motor was designed to always run at full speed to keep cool. Have...
OK. it is sounding like you are right. I will check mine. It will be tonight before I can look at this again. In the meantime I did already get the "ok" to pass-on that contact info. PM me if you...
I converted my Boss 9 from 208VAC (3)phase to 230VAC (1)phase. I'm not certain what differences(if any) there are on your Boss 8 going from 460VAC (3)phase to 230VAC (1)phase. But I can't see why...
I'm not sure what you say makes sense. Your mill should be no different than any other BOSS 8-9 when it comes to 3 phase power. You can convert it WITHOUT using a phase converter. You are correct in...

No I mean spindle motor contacts. But also the heaters on the spindle were probably part of the conversion kit. Again I'm no expert.
The servo voltage should be handled when you change terminals...
You may also need to move the motor contacts to LOW VOLTS. I'm no expert though. Perhaps George AKA machintek will chime in and help you.
You can easily take the front cover off to see the limit switches and perhaps see better what is going on.
You can also remove the bottom of the Z axis belt cover easily and then move the quill...
It sounds like one of the axis' is at its limit. You will need to jog that axis away from its limit, and then try to home again. Mine does this quite often.
Can you just disable with G99. This works for my boss 9.
This link to the wix site shows NOTHING. What are we supposed to be looking at?
Fractions may not be _natural_ to you, BUT they are an important, AND a perfect representation. _exact_ numbers can _not_ always be represented in decimal form.
