Once again I was super impressed by Tormach tech support. Got a message this morning before I woke up. Support told me that most likely it was the forward/reverse relay and gave me instructions...
I know it sounds crazy, but my Series III mill will only go forward, no matter which way the switch is set for manual or programmed.
I've had my Series III since it came out and it has 1000's of...

Thanks for the advice, it worked very well. No more shriek and the holes are staying on center. I also added a coolant jet to help flush out the hole. Thanks a bunch.
Posting this here as we are all familiar with rigidity and capabilities of the Tormach.
I need to drill lots of 3/8 holes through 3 inch aluminum blocks. Currently, I spot drill and then go...
Did you ever get the help you were looking for?
Is there a way to edit the materials in the conversational settings. For the SlantPro, 90% of time I make quick parts using the conversational mode and not always in aluminum.
Mine always worked great until just lately.
So I did the automatic update and now I cannot set tool heights with the "PN 31988 - Tormach Tool Assistant Set with 8” Digital Height Gauge". When I press the button on the digital height gauge it...
So I went and ate and stopped thinking about it and then went back and moved the little brake lever on the X axis so it's disengaged so its all back to good. Does this mean my brake is bad?
I've had my SlantPro since September and use it every few days. I was running a part today and noticed that the X axis is squeaking. X travel at high speed tends to stall the motor. I have a...
I did pretty much the same thing so I could use my existing BXA tool holder. I didn't thread the holes, I just bored a hole and then put a hex shaped pocket to keep a 6" fine thread bolt from...
Would you be willing to share your LinuxCNC settings? Perhaps both machine definition files?
That looks like it will work very well. And thanks for putting the link in there for the aluminum inserts.
I don't know about other people, but I really like it when vendors post replies with...
I might just give it a try, I guess I was reluctant as I have never made such a thing before.
What's the best way to go about it? Cut the front to get the basic profile and then cut the relief?
Howdy Fellow Oregonian.
I have to make several thousand of these, so I need something pretty rugged. I was thinking custom tool, but I'm not make 10K of them. Just enough to make it a big issue.
I need to cut some round parts that are basically "M" shaped on my cnc lathe. About 1.25 around and made from aluminum. I am thinking a round bar holder with a 55º Diamond insert, but the ones I...
Interesting. It does for me too once I remove the blanks and any other txt from the comment. Are blank lines bad?
Also, you cannot have a (msg, xxx) in the same line as a picture comment, and...
The release notes on the web site say that Images in Comments now work for the Lathe, but I don't see it in your release notes and tried it and cannot get it to work.
Pretty simple gcode. and I...
That's incredibly useful.
I have a VirtualBox setup for running some old software that needs XP. I'll have to create an instance for this as well. Did you just create a LinuxVM and boot from...
What do you mean "PathPilot simulator" I thought it wouldn't run w/o the mesa card?
I have a set of custom soft jaws that provide a little more clearance. I have a self centering 6 jaw chuck that I use all the time and just leave it mounted alongside the vice. I have the jaws...
I did the same thing and got the same response. :) I think they sent us the exact same letter.
I didn't think it would be that useful, but then I keep forgetting to point the cooling nozzles...
I cannot get it to work no matter what. Is the jpg file have to be in some specific size? I put the file "partsetup.jpg" in the code directory, in the home directory, in the home directory under...
That's actually just a chip sitting there in a wrong spot, I should have brushed it away before I took the picture, the cutting edge looks exactly the same as the unused ones. I'm using flood...
I am cutting some 1.25 x 20 threads in aluminum and while they work pretty well, it's not perfect and they come out rougher than I would like.
It's easier with pictures so this is what I am up to....
I am just piecing together a number of conversational programs into one. Even when I am going between tools mounted on the gang holder it pauses for tool change. (Unless it's the same tool).
Not what I was after, let me explain better.
How do I tell pathpilot that the tool is a gang tool and I don't have to pause for a tool change. I have a mix of some tools in a gang setup, and...
I have a mix of gang tooling and tool post. I know it's in the manual somewhere, but how do I specify in code that I don't need to pause for a tool change, that the tool is already there.
I did some more testing and I have pretty consistently .0006 backlash, sometimes .0005 in the X near the center holes. I measure it by going in one direction until my .00005 dial indicator is...
