Without the pump im sure the engine would overheat. The flow rate would be very small without a pump. Its like having a heatsink without a fan. The fan makes the heatsink more efficient.

I have been running my machine for over 3 years now with SBR16 and SBR20 supported linear rails with no problems. I cut MDF with a Vac head 3 times a week. The rails are the least of your worries.

Well. 7.5HP would do the job but at a slower feed/spinde speed. If you want maximum feed rates(providing your machine rigidity is there) then go for the 11HP.

No. This is not the solution. The bottom bearing must float as it is. What you need to do is prevent the shaft of the ball screw from sliding in and out of the top bearing.

Do not rely on the motor holding your ball screw from moving. You may still have an issue with the shaft diameter and the bearing itself.
