I'm trying to figure out whats going on with my X axis.

The finishes are getting worse and this is what helical interpolation looks like at 300ipm:

Heres a video of the "bouncey" axis:...

  4. Selecting Start Point for Plunge Roughing - V28

Iam doing some experimenting with plunge roughing in V28 and cant seem to modify the start point of the cutter. As you know, most plunge cutters arent center cutting, so I cant just slam the tool...

Gearbox Leak HS1 - Any ideas?

Re: Haas HS-1 machines / tech question

HS1s are very problematic machines. Pallet changer issues seem to be at the top of the list. This is also why they have virtually no resale value.

The EC series is a huge improvement, however IIRC...
  9. Re: Cloudy Aluminum Finish - What am I doing wrong?

Im just learning what tooling i need so its not a big deal to buy what I need.

    Ill try it tomorrow.

  10. Re: Cloudy Aluminum Finish - What am I doing wrong?

The finish is amazing (i only finished the upper portion of the cylinder), Ive seen a lot of billet parts and this is definitely up there with the best finishes Ive seen.

  11. Re: Cloudy Aluminum Finish - What am I doing wrong?

I fixed the problem by increasing my DOC from .005" to .020" and from increasing my feedrate from 50ipm to 67ipm.

Does anyone see the benefit in running slower feeds and speeds to get a better...
  12. Re: Cloudy Aluminum Finish - What am I doing wrong?

It definitely doesn't come off with WD40, tried that plenty of times.
  13. Re: Cloudy Aluminum Finish - What am I doing wrong?

Exactly the same strategy, feeds and speeds.... Hole was roughed and then finished with .007"WOC, Exterior was roughed and finished with .007" WOC.
  14. Re: Cloudy Aluminum Finish - What am I doing wrong?

So what would you recommend finishing with? 2Flute HSS?
  15. Cloudy Aluminum Finish - What am I doing wrong?
