That's why I stopped even looking at updates. They never fixed the bugs in V26 tutorials that I spent HOURS describing and sending to them.
I had good support during my trial period because I explained that I was only able to use it about 5 days during the "trial" period. However, this yearly upgrade looks to be problematic for those of...
I'll give that a try later - fighting a gallbladder issue right now :(
You're right - using BoB to make this part was actually easier than Gerotic because it doesn't have any spokes. Working with this now to see if I can get it to backplot.
OK guys - doing it as 3D seems to work, though I'm really stumbling around with the different options right now. At least I can see the toolpath, and the milling simulation looks like its running -...
Imported a nice STL file of a sprocket with a collar on it from Gearotic. But after going through the Stock Wizard as rectangular stock, and then 2D milling, it doesn't look like I get a toolpath...
I looked at the changes in the newest build - and I don't think they even fixed the major bugs otherwise they would have a bug fix list too. In any event, I seemed to have tickled the sales...
I asked for information on the support plan, and the sales lady emailed me with 1182 (?) and not 1335 information. My main issue with the software is that the online help tutorials are very poor,...
The consensus in another thread, to which I contributed, is that after 90 days, you either buy the support plan or you go without support. However, you can still report bugs to BobCAD. Support...
I think what the Active Support means is that once a version is published, the support for that version will continue for 12 months. Not the support to the licensee. So V26 will be in Active...
Interesting policy they started: Don't notify buyers of the product that they'll have to spend more and more money. I will say, in BobCAD's defense, that because I was unable to even complete the...
You better hurry - they will only allow you to update for 45 days unless you pay $350 for support.
Here's the policy direct from BobCAD:
"In order to recieve any kind of updates to a current version, you must have purchased a support package, or be within your first 45 days after purchase where...
Sean, Steve Fornelius ([email protected]) here.
As I've suggested numerous times before, get someone off the street with basic computer skills, and run the tutorials through them. The...
Same thing here - my "support" has expired. Considering I bought the V26 5 months ago, I guess the support and upgrades only last until they figure they can't sell you more support. Note that I...
Did you look at all 3 axis? They should all read the same in each of the input blocks. If you make ANY changes, you have to resave that axis. I'm assuming that you've put the other motors on the...
I got it cut adequately, using some y-axis extensions and some cussing. I think you're right that the a-axis is redundant for this operation and I could have probably just clamped some block to the...
One big issue I see is that the shop classes in high school have more or less gone by the wayside to make room for "special education". I'm not even sure home ec is still offered anywhere. A...
Wow - that's exactly what happened, though how I did it I don't know. Fixed the problem! Thanks much for the response.
Took a few tries and a y-axis extender kit from Wildhorse Enterprises, but I was able to mount a 7" square of aluminum on the rotary table and mill a gear who's finished size is 6 7/8"in diameter. I...
I went to run a new part in the mill simulator, but there was no "play" button anymore. All the other buttons are there, but I'm only able to run by stepping it over and over and over. Anyone else...
I'd like to be able to use Gearotic horizontally instead of as a 4th axis. I'm trying to find out if anyone has done the cnc for a rotary table horizontally on the mill.
The reason I'm interested...
Solved by BobCAD tech support - I needed to change the "default chain start point" and reverse the direction. I don't know why you do this, but it did work.
Attached is the file that BobCAM produced. Hopefully this will show what I'm talking about. Whoops - can't upload the BobCAM file because its not supported.
Is there some sort of offset I need to look at when cutting gears. Exporting from Gearotic to BobCAM gives me a cut that does the spokes of the gear properly, but then cuts the teeth of the gears...
Very good comments. I am wondering if the demo version is 32 or 64 bit. I'm going to move my license over to the 64 bit computer and if necessary add another 4 Gig of Ram. Running Win7-64...
tried to pm the files to you, but only got one or two pms in before your box said "full".
I did Alibre, including making complex parts and assemblies with fewer problems, and I know that documentation is an issue. BUT- this is a tutorial! One should expect that they took it to the...
Sent some of the examples to a couple of you via PM. If anyone else wants to look, pm me. I have to send it in parts because the files are too big.
That's what I've been working with the past few days. I did each step, one by one, and I will say the CAM portion only averaged one error every other page. Missing lines, missing commands, steps in...
