I also added another breakout board to eliminate the 2 outputs on the g540. Now those are free to use for F/R, Run/stop etc. I also have 2 48vdc relays that will go well with these outputs if needed.

I noticed that when I did some testing previously in this thread I had the X4 in manual mode and got different readings. It seems that NC cnc mode switch is active that readings tested to the Gnd....

OK, I finally got my new g540 hooked up and tested. Testing through mach also and all is well. Here is what I did to test through mach to verify gecko is working.
9 volt battery test went like this....

I am not using the charge pump feature, I had issues at the time and never went back to diagnose. Never had any more issues.
I am also not using the lms spindle kit for the sx-3, I spoke with lms...

I did jump a 9 volt battery across pin 7 & 9 and got 9.5v across 7 & 8 so I believe that the gecko is ok. It must be something in mach. I'll have to figure that out first before going forward.

I have a spindle switch on the console wired in and its for manual and cnc mode. enabled that and tested run/stop to gnd and no movement.
