So is that a straight null modem cable? Looks to be but I remember reading of guys who tried just null modem cables and they didn't work. Not sure why. Seems simple enough.

Fanuc GE Fanuc CNC RS 232 Serial Communication Cable
Here's what I got. You have to jumper some wires.
I think so but if I remember right one of the wires is switched from standard. Maybe I'm wrong. Let me see if I can find the link.
Got my emails screwed up. Was sending them to the other guy on page 1 of this thread. Emails incoming. I will see if I can find the link to the proper cable setup for these machines too. I think I...
I have the communications protocols I can send over. Basically baud rates, etc have to match computer and machine and some parameters have to be changed. You need a special cable too. I'm gonna...
Spiker-Sent you a PM as well.
Jomo-sending you over some things. The parameter manual breaks down what each parameter does. That combined with the excel file which as you will see should narrow...
Not to hijack the OP's post but I'm in kind of the same boat. Parity error, missing most of the parameters, etc. Will be following along and also my serial is cs-262 so not far off.
I've...
Tyring to figure out if its possible to drip feed these machines. Mine is a 1998 Conquest 42 with Fanuc OT-B. Just getting it up and running now. Looked through the manuals and don't see anything....
Very cool. So this will work off Linux too? I have a Debian computer in the shop I setup. I'm not great with Linux but for old pc's it's great.

I was pretty sure mine did. At least that's what I was told. Guess I need to verify that. Would love to try your app when it's done.
I think I'm gonna expand my memory first to the max. ...
Looks nice. I should mention it's only for one machine. I came across the free version from Cadem last night. Looked interesting except you couldn't drip feed. Was hoping to find a free solution even...
Just getting into using a OT-B and will need to communicate with it via the rs232. Wondering what software out there guys have been using that free and works. I'm sure I could get hyperterminal or...
Forgot it's an OT-B

Will be troubleshooting a 998 rom parity error at some point in the near future. I know it usually means the main board needs repairing but I'm hoping to be able to tackle this myself, or at least...
Appreciate that. If it comes to a specific one I'm not sure of I may.

I found it. Pretty sure the 0-C is the same, at least close enough for what I need. Thanks
Was there even a OT-B paramter manual? I can't seem to find a reference to it anywhere. The OT-A either. Wondering if the OT-Cs are the same. I would certainly buy it. I guess I will call Fanuc...
I just picked up a used machine (Hardinge Conquest 42) with OT-B with just a tailstock and it came with some parameters but as I'm finding out not all of them. The guy who had it before me did a...

I may be able to help you out. What year is yours?

Is trying to run a 30hp with say a pony start a stretch for 100 amp service? The load Motor is 10hp and takes 22 amps. I also have 2 servos which are 7.6 amps.

I found it and read it thanks.

Also should I run a separate 220 line for the first 2 phase to the machine from the panel box and use just the rpc for the generated phase?

I've been doing some reading. Seems like people are recommending about 15uf per 1 hp on the run side. Does that sound about right?

I picked up a hardinge conquest 42 with a 10hp (7.5kw) spindle. Looks like it requires about 60 amps for 115% full load. The guy I got it from said he ran it off a 50 amp breaker and it ran fine.
...
Picked it up today. No c axis but if I retrofit that wouldn't be a problem. Currently looking to get it up and running with the fanuc controls and then plan out a retrofit.
What lathe are you...
Picking up a conquest 42 tomorrow. Wondering if there's a way to add live tooling to the machine if it didn't originally come with it. The control is broke currently and thinking about doing a...
Anything that takes a step and dir would easily work with linuxcnc. Pretty easy if you're buying new stuff. A little different if you're trying to convert old machines and using their equipment.

Looking for the power requirements for a 1988 or similar hardinge conquest 42. I know is 3 phase but would like to know the full load amps required for the machine.
Thanks
