Speaking of RPM I'm looking for a 3600 RPM motor running with 2-1 pulleys. I too may be out of my mind,but I agree it will need more RPM.

The only reason I went with NEMA 34 was for the 1/2" shaft. I just didn't feel comfortable with the 1/4" shaft turning the large ball screw. I have seen similar builds done with 380 oz steppers all...
