Nice! Please post some pics when you get it.
Glad it helped. I know I would have liked seeing more detailed pics than what is on their website when I was shopping for a mill.
Here are some updates:
I put an 8" vertical scale on the...
Just to follow up. I just got off the phone with Travis from Precision Matthews and he tells me the Easson ES-8 DRO have glass scales and the system is enclosed and I should not be any problems with...
Yeah that's what they advertise. Just not sure if it's totally enclosed or not. Pictures shows this. I'm thinking it's a cut-away view but just want to be sure before I fry all the electronics:
So I am about to set up my flood coolant system. I don't see how my DROs are not going to get wet. Are they waterproof? Is it normal to have a DRO system with flood coolant? Something is not...
What? Really? Wow, good thing I got mine already. I must have gotten lucky because it was only a few days after placing the order before it arrived at my front door. I REALLY like my PM-45M.
Looking good man. Keep up the pics--I love seeing what people are doing with their PM-45's. Also love your signature: "Silly engineer wants to be a machinist"
Awesome! Thanks for the info. That will save me a lot of time searching as I have been the last week.
Huh? I think you meant to post this in a different thread?
Since I have you here a quick question. Don't think I will doing the belt drive anytime soon. How about a VFD and bigger motor with...
This is how I did it:
PM-45M with 3 axis DRO
Don't remove the column from the base. I heard a few people having tramming problems afterwards. I'm not sure how much of that is true. I see...
Arizona, this is very interesting. I assume VFD is to have a variable speed? Can we have VFD and keep the gearing or do we have to do the belt drive for VFD? Can you point me to some more info on...
Cool. Be great to see some pics. Just post some here!
What I really need is a power z!
Thanks! Just found this on the internet.
"a B16 is the same taper per foot as MT 2"
Not sure how true this is. Maybe I'll just get an R8 keyless chuck instead of trying to find an adapter.
Maybe he's not an internet guy. I don't know. I am so used to doing everything on the net. I emailed him pictures to better clarify my questions. Thought it would help. Maybe a phone call would...
Matt has been non-responsive. I emailed him a few times about different issues and he never responded. Never told me how to wire the coolant pump. That's why I asked here. I'm a little...
Thanks for the tip Pete. I know it's just a matter if time and I won't be able to keep it new but this thing just looks so nice!
Anyway, all you PM-45M owners out there, what came in that little...
Is it just me or does it kill you guys to get scratches on a new table? Arrrgh. That 6" vise is so heavy. Hard to place it gently and not mar up the table.
I dont think it was moved. There is only one hole tapped. Maybe Matt tapped it in house and not from the factory.
That would be awesome to see. I have not tried the coolant system yet. I am thinking of using some loc lines too.
Haha me too. I just wrap some tape around the drawbar until it just fills the spindle. Now it centers everytime.
It came with the shielding. I haven't done anything with the DRO.
Just a few more detailed pics in case anyone is interested. Some which shows how the DRO is installed. I know I would have liked to see these when I was trying to make my decision to buy one. If...
Thanks! Mine is up and running.
Sorry, 220v. The 3 wires coming from the mill is:
1. yellow with a green strip
2. black
3. black
The three wires on the pump is:
1. gray with a red strip--tagged Z2--connected to Z2 post...
Is your splashguard in place? I think there is a safety switch connected to it.
Yeah I saw the diagram too but I have no idea what it means. Please let me know how you set up the pump.
The set screw in my spindle was TOO long and stuck out too far in the spindle and wouldn't...
Ok so I emailed Matt about hooking up the coolant pump but got nothing. I have 3 wire coming from the mill. I am guessing a ground and 2 hot. The problem is I don't know which terminal on the pump...
Thanks for the generous offer Pete! It will be awhile before I get to that phase but I will keep you in mind. :) That looks very nice!
Thanks. I don't think I can do that just yet. I don't have a lathe yet.
Hey Pete,
What is this z axis mod you mention? I can't seem to find it.
