I don't have an automatic oiler and I think it a silly idea. Using the single pull oiler is trivial. I would rather just do the single pull once in awhile than worry about whether an automatic...

Most all of us quickly discovered that the original equipment chip deflector panel is a joke. It's a pain to slide the panel into the slots and chips and coolant easily fly over the top.

The spindle hours counter is inside the Z column. First remove the back splash guards, then remove the electrical cabinet from the column. Next remove the table for better access. Now remove the 6...
Do a search. This has been recently discussed. Many of us have replace the pump with a Home Depot sump pump with very good results.
Looks pretty interesting to me.
Normally I locate the work and get work height using the Haimer. Then each tool gets measured and typed in. Automating would be good. What would be the actually...
Haimer is quite effective at finding bore center too.
Do a search to read previous discussion here on Haimer -- digital vs analog. I tried both; analog is much better choice.
Here's a free tool that I used with good success a couple days ago. It does engraving and V-carving and has some other capability that I didn't explore. It seems to work well.

I copied Randy's great idea with the riser...

I used a big clear plastic tub for the 1/4 hp Superior brand pump. I can easily pull the...
Oh, I'll bet it's to get quicker response given that the tubing holds its charge.
But then with a more potent pump that benefit would be lesser and maybe not as worthwhile.
Excellent. I printed out the pictures and intend to copy.
But, what is the idea of the check valve? Why?
Seems like a great way to take something that is extremely simply and make it complicated. Makes me think of all the rediculus automatic functions in my mother's new Lexus.
Personally I don't percieve a need to automatically stop the program. I'd think that simply alarming would be better. Then depending on where you are, and how critical Z happens to be, you could...
I'm also interested in how you are doing this.
Despite Ray's comment, when using larger diameter tools and especially when one is trying to rely on the disc springs in the PDB, TTS holding is a...
[QUOTE=sperman;1182298]Maybe it won't cause any damage, but why risk it. /QUOTE]
This statement seems rather silly. Once it has been shown by theory and by actual practice that there is not a...
Well, I've had the PDB for about a year. There is no tool in it right at the moment and there usually isn't.
I routinely allow my collet to close empty -- no problem here.
I probably don't want to buy 30 pillows at $2.53 ea but if somebody wants to be an order spliter, I can take 10 or 15 at that price. I can pay by paypal if that helps.
A while ago I searched for cheaper ones online and couldn't come up with anything. Where have you seen $3 pillows?
Personally I think its time that Tormach do an update on the Mach system. I've seen a lot of cool stuff like this item that should be included but aren't.
For myself, I don't want anything to...
Steve Seebold - your argument regarding limiting Y travel doesn't hold water when the 5" vise that you're advocating can only open 4.2" in Y.
I'm convinced that my set-up is the best you can do (not surprising I guess). I have two GMT vises that were bought together as a matched pair. The matching is in Z base height. They are well made...
Considering all the various contaminates and gunk that ultimately gets mixed into the coolant over the course of normal usage, I consider it unlikely that the relatively minute difference between tap...
Interesting that they went for the "Design Patent" which covers only the ornamental character of the toolholder rather than a real patent covering the functional aspects of TTS. A cost saving...
With zero machining experience, you'll be better off learning the basics on a manual mill at much lower cost and risk. After you've got the fundamentals down, then tackle CNC if you decide you...
I've been using my Bridgeport for 10 years without a pin. Not having a pin makes tool changes a little easier. Using the Tormach with its pin, I've found the pin to be a bit of nuisance having...
Since we're on the subject of table range, I can throw out a tip that I've found useful. I got tired of reanalizing the table range limits when setting up vises and projects. I Went to both ends...
How do you rate the brightness of this light?
It just seems to come up as 29.99. What is the trick to make it 19.99?
I like this idea too. I'm wondering... if the curtain were made longer then perhaps we would not need the front drop down window. I've always found the window to be a pain. It might even be...
It's black oxide. In the Phoenix area there are shops that will do a lot of black oxide on a $60 minimum charge. Check the phone book or online.
But you said the position numbers in Mach had stopped also. It's an open loop system so a mechanical problem in the 4th won't explain it.
