Very nice machine, what kind of spindle are you going to use?
Do you have pictures of it.
Nice turning spindle, that is what i thougth...!!
The spindle is from AF 60
(250watts only, but nice and small, ordered the 400Hz one)
Still have the NSK NR3060S unit, maybe i will use it for a...
Hey Jason,
Nice to hear of you, been busy the last year with a lot.
Hope the drives will be not only oem, for some hobby freaks they would be perfect i think. Ion is the ....
Machine is going...
Hey Guys,
Have you seen the amazing nice drives on the granite devices website?
Very cool, a complete solution and a very small unit.
I`m wondering if the Ion can be used by the cnc modelbuilder...
Imagine you are good in your "Real" engineering competences..
Learn "Real" fast the political game people play at all companies,
Stay out of it and never show all you got!!!!

Very Nice man..!! was it easy to machine the EG, can you tell some more about that?
@Terry,
May i ask you when this mill was made..?
Is the Horzizontal part that holds the spindle made of full EG? No steel inserts for reinforcement?
I was wondering how long this mill was used,...
You are right Al, for the NSK spindle the machine is too much.
Did the calculations for the NSK spindle using equations from this book:
Engineering formulas for metalcutting from Edmund Isakov...
not much, there are tables based on the standard spindle motor.
They can be found in the Nsk cataloge.
Spindle is very nice:
max rpm: 60.000
Runout in cone: <0.001mm
Diameter; 30mm
Length: 50mm
4 ceramic ac bearings, max 6mm endmill
NSK NR3060S
NR-3060S
No documentation so far, yeah on the Dutch cnczone.nl. But thats hard to read i think..
If you look in my post or started threads you can find a lot more design, this one is final.
When...
A nice small benchtop machine (outer dimensions 450x450x450mm)
xyz cube 200x100x90mm, base of epoxy granite (German EG shop will fill the mould with a good EG and vibrate it)
Got almost all the...
Will look into it a little bit further and contact maxon.
Think then that the linear supply will be the best solution.\\Greetz,
Roy
The motor is rated to max. 25.000 rpm, atleast, the bearings.
Maxon told me 30.000 rpm would be possible, but bearing life will reduce.
If i use the 30.000 setting instead of 60.000, the drive...
Read the manual again and dont know for sure how the drive works.
I want to use a max. rpm of 30.000 rpm.
On the drive i can select a rpm range from 1000 to 30.000 rpm by a dipswitch.
The...
Hey Al,
you are right and got me thinking again..
Designed the servo system for continues operation.
Calculated the linear and rotational inertia of moving parts and ballscrews incl, bearing...
Hello people,
If i want to power 3 servo motors with a continues current of 2A
and a max current of 6A. (motors run on 75V)
Can i just say 3 x 6A = 18A needed?
Or can i use a lower amerage...
But why dont we all use this stuff to build a machine, what are the pro`s and con`s? I found a website that stated that the mechanical performance is the same or better as EG. What would be the...
Would a UHPC (ultra high performance concrete) be a good material for a hobby machine base?
It is easy to use since there is no vibration neccesary.
Ant idea`s on this?
Production of UHPC-Elements...
Pretty old machine...is it made from epoxy granite..?
Dont think so, do i like it.
Offcourse Thomas, still could try......
In my opinion a jig is also the best way, one day i will make my own machines and sell them....:violin:
My study is finally finished in a few months,...
Could one off you guys post a picture of it, or is it secret..?
Think Thomas uses DWH310FL...?
Is that replication gauge a very big precision jig?
For placing the linear surface material in and glue them in place?
Hey Thomas,
you are the man that made it from hobby to pro...the first one from the forumcult...cool..!! Been reading for years now on cnczone and ecke.
Could you tell or maybe efen show a...
Is that full epoxy granite Steven..?
Is that a machine for yourself as hobby or do you have a company that sells them.?
Very nice design and cool that you will let us see how its done..!!
Could you also in time tell us a little bit about the cost of the casting and curing in the oven?
Yes multiple people have made one, worked out ok, you should read back a few pages, dont remember what page it was..?
That was a nice write up Cameron,
cann imagine that other people will think the guys in this thread have lost it....lol:cheers:
It is taking ages and almost nobody understands it anymore, besides...
His machine works, but that aint the goal here, then your missing the point off this thread, the goal is to make a perfect mixture.
If you want you cann make a machine with Thomas his mixture, of...
