How to setup/program older analog drives without the original controller?
I have an older mill with analog DC servo drives, the parameters for which were normally setup using the Allen Bradley 8400 MP control, but the control is no longer working, how do I change the settings in the drive if I'm using a different controller?
Retrofitting old CNC Mill - Questions
I'm looking to retrofit an older CNC mill with analog +-10V drives, the existing Allen Bradley controller is no longer functioning and will need to be replaced, can anyone suggest a suitable replacement that can be used to drive +-10V analog drives, as well as suggest how I would be able to tune the drives without the previous controller?
Re: Retrofitting old CNC Mill - Questions
There is Mach or Camsoft using the Galil motion card or Dynomotion with Kanalog.
What model are the drives?

Re: Retrofitting old CNC Mill - Questions
I'll try and find out the model numbers for the drives, and I have used Mach before, so I understand the concepts there, what I am having difficulty with however, is how do I program the servo drives, given that they used to be programmed through the Allen Bradley controller, which is no longer functioning? Can I program the drives using a third party controller? for example a CSMIO/IP-A or Kanalog?

What settings? Those were just an anolog input system. Usually just had pots to adjust gain/balance/etc. on the drives.

Re: Retrofitting old CNC Mill - Questions
Allen-Bradley motors and drives were usually Reliance/Electrocraft as they had bought them out, if you can get the drive & motor model it will help?
