Spindle for DIY mill build
Hi- I recently acquired a older (never used) Sauter driven tool originally designed for use in a tool turret. Model #0.5.934.104-103 803 / 31223D. It uses HSK C40 tooling (manual tool changes only).
Schematic and pics below.
I have been searching for a suitable spindle for a small bench (5Bears style) mill I have built (currently crippled with a router as spindle).
I was thinking of changing out Drive Gear for timing pulley and driving it with a 750 W yaskawa servo motor I have.
Has anyone tried to use a driven tool as a stand alone spindle ??
Thx for ideas.
Jake

Re: Spindle for DIY mill build
I haven't used one but it looks like it should be no problem. I'm sure it will be a vast improvement over any mini mill spindle.

Looks like it'll be a vast improvement over any bench top mill spindle, 10,000 rpm and 13hp yes please.
Does it have ports for air hoses? Labyrinth Seal?
Did you manage to get any more tooling with it? HSK C40 may be rather pricy.
