How to remove the linear scale
hello guys,
I have a CNC Milling machine with 3 axes. FANUC 0i MODEL D
the axes use a pulse coder + linear scale to know it's position
I want to remove the linear scale from the Y axis. (i don't care of the accuracy)
I tried to remove it but these alarms appeared:
DS0300 (Y)APC ALARM: NEED REF RETURN
DS0307 (Y)APC ALARM: BATTERY LOW 1
When i connect the linear scale again the alarms disappear.
So how can i correctly remove the linear scale from this axis?
Re: How to remove the linear scale
Parameter 1815.1 should then be set to a 1. Do all axes have scale, or just this one? You will have to home the axis after disconnecting.
Re: How to remove the linear scale
Hello,
Thanks spark
I set the 1815.1 to 1 before but it didn't fix the problem
And all axes have a linear scale.
Re: How to remove the linear scale
Once you do that then you have to set the zero point and re-home the axis. If your Y has a physical mark then move it there while you have the alarms and then set 1815.4 to 1, move axis away from that point and cycle power, then home it (do a reference move). If you don't see a physical zero mark on the machine, re-connect the scale and move it to home and then make a mark, or just toggle the bit to 1 there. If it successfully homes the alarms should reset and you should be good to go.
Re: How to remove the linear scale
Hello again
I can't find any solution for this problem
after removing the linear scale ,adjust the parameters and make the refernce point retern
this alarm appears after power up the machine
DS0307 (Y)APC ALARM: BATTERY LOW 1
Any help on how to disable this alarm ?
Re: How to remove the linear scale
Since the home reference was successful, I'd say replace the APC batteries, you never mentioned if that had been done. If you do this with power on you shouldn't have to re-home. Then cycle power and see if alarm is gone. What's the reason for wanting to remove the scale on that one axis only? Is it causing problems?
Re: How to remove the linear scale
I don't think the scale uses those batteries, just the APC. It is possible that there is a short somewhere in the APC battery circuit too. Scales can be problematic, especially in a wet environment even with air pressure pumped into them. I hope you find a solution to your problem, if you do please let us know. Good luck!
Re: How to remove the linear scale
The problem is the scale are absolute and your motors are not. If you turn off parameter 1815 Make all 0's 00000000 you should power up with no alarms. However, you may find that you can not home the machine either. Typically the machine tool builder specifies how to run off of the motor encoder. a few parameters need to be changed in order to run without scales. After turning off the scale feedback when you command an inch it most likely move some other amount.
