Spindle making grinding/humming noise
Hi Everybody,
I just joined CNC Zone, and need help. When my machine hits anywhere between 1800 - 2200 RPM I start to get a grinding noise going on. If I override the speed it sounds fine, but I need certain tools to run in that RPM range. Anybody have experience with this?
I'd appreciate any help or tips...
Thanks,
Keith

For future posts, you will want to provide details about your machine setup regarding age, model, options, etc or anything that may help with the situation at hand.
Regardless, any grinding noises are not good and most likely suggest either bad bearings or gear box if you have one. It's best to fix this sooner rather than later, because eventually it will get worse and or seize up altogether and that always happens at the most inopportune times.
If you have more questions, please be specific and provide as many details you can in order to give the best help we can.
Good luck!
