Demo'd Lathe with Turret & Full enclosure
I went up to Z-bot in Austin today to check out the 15L lathe.
And I liked what I saw.
Their lathe has the full enclosure (prototype), and the 8 station turret setup.
Very nice.
I wanted to check it out in person, as I was concerned about the swing, and tool travel in X.
So I chucked up a 7.5 diameter ring, and yes, there was enough travel in X to turn the OD. (With the turret)
The swing was just over 15".
I also measured the footprint.
It measured 41" X 76".
Here's a pic of the full enclosure.
Remember, the full enclosure is still in the works, so I don't think it's ready for purchase yet. Be patient.
Thanks Bob for the demo.

Re: Demo'd Lathe with Turret & Full enclosure
Very nice! I'd love to get my hands on that. Makes it look like a GT27 or other production style lathe.
Re: Demo'd Lathe with Turret & Full enclosure
That looks just like the one I saw in WI during my demo a few weeks ago. I sure do wish they would hurry up with the full enclosure. I think that the turrets are ready to go.
Maybe now that the PCNC 1100 enclosures are available, they will make faster progress on the lathe enclosures.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Tormach was sourcing them from a industrial supplier who makes turrets for other manufacturers, so I would think they would be ready to go as almost an off-the-shelf part.
Anyone else remember anything about that?

Yep, in all my conversations with them, the turrets are all set to ship and they even have inventory. They are just waiting on the enclosures to sell them.

Hmmmmmm. There was a 1100 at Z-bot with a full enclosure as well.
I wonder if it was the same one TORMACH is offering?
