770 series 3 with mach OS change motherboard battery
My 770 series 3 won't turn on with the power switch at the console anymore, just started. I now have to go under the machine base where the control computer is and push the on button every time. I was told on another forum I need to change the battery in the mother board in the computer.
Has anybody had this issue and if so how do you get to the mother board. I assume I need to take the cover off the computer but is there any tips for me. Thanks

This doc looks to be for a path pilot controller. I have the older Mach OS. I'll pull it out this weekend and take a look. Maybe its the same. Thanks for your help.

It's going to be a regular PC of some sort in there. Might be unbranded but its usually pretty easy to remove the outer case and find the CMOS battery once you get the PC out. The "legacy controller" info in the doc will be most useful.

I fixed it. The control computer's cover was easy enough to remove but the battery was not in an easy to get to spot. Pain in the neck, I had to tape it to a tool and carefully operate on that sucker.
I got it finally and it solved the problem.
Thanks for the advice.
