Result of step/dir generator 0 in example SimpleStepDirAxis0.mot
Hi,
I loaded example SimpleStepDirAxis0.mot on the Config/Flash Screen, then pushed "Move" on the Step Response Screen.
Result:
1. Both IO 8 and IO 9 output same pulse.
2. IO 8 and IO 9 never stop, they always output pulse.
I don't know that you have result which is like my result?
I want to configure step/dir generator 0 like the attached image.
http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/...psf510f631.png
IO 8 (STEP pin) outputs pulse and IO 9 (DIR pin) doesn't output pulse. IO 9 only is used to determine direction of stepper motor. IO 8 outputs the specified number of pulse. Then, it stops and a task is done. Next, it outputs the specified number of pulse again and it stops again,..v..v...
Can you help me?
Thanks,
TQH

Hi TQH,
It sounds like you are asking if KFLOP can output CW and CCW pulses instead of Step Pulses and Direction. No KFLOP does not support this. An external circuit can be add to do a conversion. Are you sure your drives can not accept Step and Direction or Quadrature mode signals?

Re: Result of step/dir generator 0 in example SimpleStepDirAxis0.mot
Hi,
I don't understand why IO8 and IO9 output same pulse. How does KFLOP board control a step motor? I think if KFLOP board wants to control a step motor, it will output step pulse on IO8 and output 0 or 1 on IO9.
I use a motor driver like attached image. And when I tested example SimpleStepDirAxis0.mot with this motor driver and a step motor, no encoder, the step motor didn't run exactly.
Thank you,
TQH

Take a picture of the motor config screen and the step response screen and post them. Also take a picture of any c programs you may be running.

Hi TQH,
Yes KFLOP has Step and Direction outputs that will generate "Step pulses" on the Step Pin (ie IO8) with the Direction Pin (IO9) either Active or not.
It looks like your driver requires SW9 to be off for Step and Direction Mode.
SimpleStepDirAxis0.mot configures the outputs as "Open collector" which only sink current to KFLOP GND. You didn't include any specification but most likely you would connect those drives PUL+ and DIR+ to KFLOP +5V and the PUL- to KFLOP IO8 and the DIR- to KFLOP IO9. See:
Step and Direction Setup
