KiaTurn 15LMS Meldas 520 Controller - Turret alarm
I hope one of you can help.
We hadn't run this machine in quite awhile and the battery may have gotten low. New battery. But now if you try to index the turret you get a
AL24 - TURRET INDEX CONDITION NG. You see the turret jiggle a little but alarm out.
We have tried to reset the turret using the following procedure
1.press SPINDLE STOP and SELECT and FEED HOLD
2.press EM STOP
3.manually align the turret
4. release EM STOP
5.press STAND-BY
6.press CALL LIGHT OFF (Alarms disappear)
7. verify X0036 = 1
Tried restarting the machine at this point. but also continued the above with the following
8.press EM STOP and SELECT and FEED HOLD
9.release EM STOP
If we do the last 2 steps, the turret becomes unclamped again.
If anyone has any other suggests please please help. We cannot see any other alarms.
Thanks
Georgette
Re: KiaTurn 15LMS Meldas 520 Controller - Turret alarm
If the battery did in fact go dead, you need to replace the battery, then cycle the power on the machine 2 or three times i found, then do the zero return procedure. Once complete, index the turret to station 1. Just did one of these last week. Also, double check there are no alarms on the turret drive, they are HARD to get and cost ~7K for a new one.

The battery was not dead.. just low, but not below the alarm limit. We did not get a low battery alarm either, just replaced the battery to rule out cause and effect.
We have rebooted the machine so many times now. There are no alarms on the turret drive and I also went through the drive parameters and they are still there.
I have only programmed one program on this machine and it ran for about a year. So I am not that familiar with programming the Meldas. Used to Fanucs. So this may sound like a stupid question.
How do you write a tool change program in MDI/edit
I have
T0101;
M30;
Hit cycle start
Tried it with and without the M30
and make sure I'm in MDI mode. Am I doing this correctly?
