Hardinge CHNC 1 Power up machine home!
Hi All,
Just got my new (old) CHNC 1 into the shop Tuesday night. Got it hooked up and trying to get everything working now. It is starting to come back to life, slowly.
I got no manuals what so ever with it, but I have found most of the manuals for the control (Siemens 810T) on line and with help from people like Slant62 on this forum. I found a parts manual and it arrived today.
Problem is that I can't find a manual from Hardinge with basic operation stuff. Right now I can't even figure out how to do a Machine Home. If some one could advise me on how to do a "machine home" I would appreciate it very much.
Also, it was supposed to have RS 232 communications, but I can't find anywhere to hook it up. Anyone know where that may be, or how it is wired in?
Thanks in advance----Mike
CHNC I Commissioning Data
Mike
I have the same machine as you and have lost all the commissioning data due to a board shorting out.
Could I trouble you to download A copy of yours and e-mail to me ?

Thanks
Mark

You must have comms set up to load the data. Let us know how that is going.

Re: Hardinge CHNC 1 Power up machine home!
Hi Mike,
On the files Hardinge sent me there are instructions how to do it...
I did that using an old laptop with Win 95 setting Hiper terminal and so ...
but no results...
If i can get instructions from someone (step by step) exactly how they did it ....with pictures ...wont hurt...
A hint...I think my problem is the cable???
There are 2 lpt ports on the machine one inside the cabinet ,another in the front of machine...
Which one is recomended to use...

Here are the detailed instructions and the Comm Data. You have to follow the directions exactly. Read through very carefully and make sure you understand them fully before you start.

Re: Hardinge CHNC 1 Power up machine home!
Glad to say my CHNC 1 810 T is up and running..
Also.when I will have some spare time in the future I will write some step by step instructions for everyone else...
The most important ITEM in fixing my machine it was the software..PCIN
Siemens PCIN - PLCS.net - Interactive Q & A
So far i can home the machine, rotate the spindle ,index the turret, close and open the collet.
But still i have some problems..
I can not run MDI and AUTO mode....error is calling for low lube and x and z limits settings.
I have to mention that I have no manuals ..I did what i did searching google_cnc zone and using my senses as an mechanical engineer.
If somebody out there jump in ... help will be appreciated...
I will post PCIN for everyone else to use it ..its a dos software.
In my case i used a Compaq old Laptop with Win 95 on it and PCIN in dos mode.( cable 25 pin with 9 pin)
Regards

Re: Hardinge CHNC 1 Power up machine home!
Here are two manuals. If you stick them on a thumb drive and take to Staples they will print and bind them for about $20.00 each.
There are two locations that require oil and will give an alarm. One is the oiler where the air comes into the machine and the other is under the panel next to the air pressure valve to adjust collet air pressure. They will not clear if they need oil. Make sure you have the E-Stop pushed before filling the tank in the panel or you could get a nasty surprise.
Have you homed the machine yet?Mike
Re: Hardinge CHNC 1 Power up machine home!
Too large for one upload so two it is. Also, when using MDI, any code you write must have and EOB or end of block after it and it can be used only once, it's gone after that.
Mike
Okay, second file is too big so you will have to PM me with your email address.
