Help with servo tuning - Maxsine EP1 - typical error
Just finished updating my Bridgeport Series 2 from steppers to servos.
Using Mach3, Hicon board and Maxsine EP1 drives which accept step & direction. The machine basically runs great. 200 IPM rapids on X & Y, 120 on Z
The Hicon plug in has a utility that shows the following error on the drives and is used to test the acell + speed change the maximum allowed error but does not actually tune the drive.
Servos are completely new to me so I do not know what to expect but the following errors seem pretty large. X & Y are about 8400 counts which = .084. Is this too much? I have attached a spreadsheet with my settings & calcs.
Does anyone have any experience they would like to share tuning these? There is a mini-USB port on the drives, I was hoping there is some software to do this. I have googled till I'm blue and cannot find any.

Yes 8400 counts is huge.
Have you read the manual and got the tuning software from where you bough the drives ?
Re: Help with servo tuning - Maxsine EP1 - typical error
Wow. I would think that a following error of 20 counts at max speed would be a lot closer to reasonable.

Re: Help with servo tuning - Maxsine EP1 - typical error
I finally got the software last week. This is my first time tuning servos so I am learning as I go. My first attempt dropped the error by a factor of 10-20. Now I am down to 800 or so on X & Y, 300 or so on Z. But I agree that still seems like a lot.
What is a typical acceleration setting for a Bridgeport type machine?
