100W Reci laser tube dead after less than 1 hour
Hi
I am nearing completion of my laser engraver build, Installed a Reci Z4 100W tube, aligned mirrors and did a few test cuts on some MDF at 50% power, amp meter reading about 12ma. Everything seemed to be working perfectly I was a very happy man, gave myself a pat on the back for a job well done and shut down for the day. Next day fired the machine up again, excited to run more tests but to my horror, when I fire the laser I hear a sort of sizzling sound from the + side of the tube and the laser doesn't fire, no reading on the amp meter.
Please help

If you can confrim problem with laser tube ,reci can send new one to you ,
And for our machine ,w eusually suggest to pull out the 5 line connector on laser power, to test on the 1 st reflector, if there is no lasers ,then the laser tube problem is 80% and of course ,make sure all the LED lights is on (red green, yellow)

mostly
is the connection on the plus side make sure you have silicon sealed the whole area.

Thanks for the reply, I haven't tried silicone but I did check the connection and replaced the crimped lug. The strange thing is that everything was working well and the next day NOTHING, not even a pink beam or a amp reading.

Re: 100W Reci laser tube dead after less than 1 hour
Thanks Amy
My power supply only has one red light which goes on when I press the test button, I hear a arcing sound from the power supply and from the tube positive side but no laser beam.
Re: 100W Reci laser tube dead after less than 1 hour
look for sparking somewhere along the positive line and the HV powersupply maybe open it up if you see a sparking there is the failure if it is on the wire put a piece of PVC tube over it if it is inside the powersupply you need a new one.

Re: 100W Reci laser tube dead after less than 1 hour
Switched all the lights off and couldn't see any sparking, Will take the top off the PSU and have a look, I can definitely hear arcing from it so I'm praying that it's the power supply and not the tube to replace.
Thanks
Darryl
Re: 100W Reci laser tube dead after less than 1 hour
Lights off and test fire with tube case open if catalyst leaked away should see a faints pink glow in centre of tube at HV end, then new required tube as catalyst as seaped away happens often on long shipping or storage of cheaper tubes but Reci have a better although not faultless reputation.
