Wich cad/cam should we try or use
With the upgrade from xp to win7 our cad/cam won't work anymore so we are looking for something new. All our drawings are made With Autocad and are then importen to the cam software. Now i've seen Some packages like Autocad/router cim, alphacamexpress or rhinocam. What would be a good package? We only use it for 3axis milling, but we do have a heidenhann scanner on the machine that we also like to use. This is how it works, we scan a surface from point a to b and than we Mill the line on the hight the scanner has detected. Our surface hasn't got a flat plane. The z plane has got his UPS and downs. Any ideas from anybody

Re: Wich cad/cam should we try or use
Is there cad/cam software where the cad side looks familiar with autocad?
Re: Wich cad/cam should we try or use
Rhino is a lot like autocad; you can pick icons or enter commands in writing. RhinoCAM is a version of VisualMill (the program people have been telling you about here) which plugs into it. See my site for more information on the various versions which are available.
Re: Wich cad/cam should we try or use
I will take a few pictures and video's monday and post them. Then you will see what i mean. I draw With autocad 8 years and work very fast With it. I have 2 separate cam softwares 1 for our CMS milling machine with an Osai post (Wintools by DDX.it) and For our esab waterjet (Columbus by ESAB). Programs for our Reichenbacher 5 Axis Mill are made With the post for the CMS and then hand changed for the other Mill, thats wy i want to have one package for everything. We do 90% 2D work.
