Orient Spindle For Broaching
We have an HP4000 Horizontal Mill that we are needing to do some broaching on. I don't really want to get into the whole "You should/shouldn't do that on a milling machine....etc." My boss wants to try it and it's his machine. Anyway, does anyone know if there is a way to orient the spindles on these machines to a certain degree? I need to broach 4 square corners 90 degrees apart. I've tried "M19 Rxxx." which works on the Haas machines, but no go on this one. Any input/ideas? Thanks.

I'm on another job right now, but will give that a try when I go to that operation. Thanks for the input.

What is the controller type? You need to run the spindle as a C axis in order to do this. I don't know if your machine has that feature setup on this machine or not.

DrDos,
The control is a Fanuc 31i. I know for a fact that it doesn't have C axis capabilities. Our Haas doesn't have a C axis, but you can orient the spindle to whatever degree you want to. Thanks for the input.
