2nd Parallel Port for Z Axis - No Go
Installed a Rosewell RC304 PCI card in PC, using only the 1 port. Using CW8060 driver and 5 axis USB 5v BOB.
This is only for the 1200ozin Z axis.
PC parallel port(printer port) LPT 1 is connected to a Gecko 540. For X,Y,A.
Ive tried both LPT ports 2 (2070) and 3 (2060) in Mach 3. No stepper movement. It does have current.
Then ckd pin #7, Z axis DIR, end of the cable coming from PC 5v. But when I hit up/down keyboard arrow keys, still get 5v.
Tried Mach3 Z jog buttons, I have a touchscreen, still 5v.
Shouldnt I get 0v using either keyboard or jog ?
Mach3 setup- Z ckd, Pin 6, Pin 7, ckd, ckd, 1, 1.

kNucklBustr,
Did you define the I/O range correctly in Mach3?
The device manager will provide the necessary address information.
See attached images for details.

Re: 2nd Parallel Port for Z Axis - No Go
Yep. The first number in LPT2 address is 2070, LPT3 2060.
I have Enable Legacy ckd.
Running XP, SP2.
LPT 1 , printer, for the Gecko is 0378. Which is ok.
Im wondering if the hotkeys arnt setup for this keyboard. There is no page up/page down on it.
Still... Mach3 jog z+ and z- should work.

Re: 2nd Parallel Port for Z Axis - No Go
Yes 0X 2070, also used 0X2060. The PCI card has 2 connectors, the 2nd ribbon cable is not hooked up.
The 2 show up in device manager.

Your wiring is incorrect if com is not +5 volts
Many breakout boards have a "com" selection jumper that has a option for +5 volts or ground. If yours does not have the + 5 volt option connect CP+ &
CW+ to the power supply +5 volts.

Re: 2nd Parallel Port for Z Axis - No Go
Using LPT 3, BOB 2 led lites on, not connected to Driver, I get this from the BOB terminals:
EN 0v
Step 5v
Dir 5v
Com 5v
The BOB does have an optional J1 to solder in a jumper 5v , Gnd.
The BOB uses a USB cable to provide 5v in use.
