tool life management on Yasnac i80 control

Does anyone have any experience using the tool life management option on a Yasnac (Yaskawa) i80 control? It's on a Hitachi Seiki HVP20 lathe. I'm able to use the M12 M-code to get the counter to count up, but that's about it. I'd like to be able to have the machine generate an alarm once the limit has been reached. Right now, it just keeps running past the limit, and it's up to the operator to check the tool life page to see when it's time to change a tool.
