Having issues writing 10degree tapered OD toolpath in MC 9.1
I am currently trying to program an OD toolpath on a 10 degree taper. I am having issues getting it to work right. I can attach pictures of what you may need to see in order to help me figure this out. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Finished part in pink. Attempting to turn OD at 10deg. Stock shown.

Starting position:

First pass.. way off of stock, tool holder collides with stock.

Passes only turn to certain diameter each time... 43.740 which is my finished diameter at the top of the taper.

As you can see, the tool is never actually cutting stock material and is colliding with stock at the top of the taper. I am at a loss on what to do. I've tried writing as a FINISH instead of a ROUGH, didn't change anything. I've also tried with the tool holder in the laying down position and it's not working that way either.
Please help!
Re: Having issues writing 10degree tapered OD toolpath in MC 9.1
You tool is set horizontal ( along the Z axis )
You need to use a 55 degree tip, set shank along X axis, & set the "Plunge Parameters" to be able to do undercuts along the diameter
- set OD turning @ 0° for the depth cuts to be parallel to the Z axis
- set OD turning @ 10° for the depth cuts to be parallel to the geometry
I don't see any stock, how is it being held ?
- you may want to extend the lead out ( so there is no step, and allow any part off to start at the bottom of the taper )

you need to select another tool...something that comes in at 90 degrees not zero degrees and the other hand, right i think.

Tried with several other tool styles and holders..none worked as it should. I was able to cheat it a bit with the 55deg insert and make it work. Thanks for the input, guys.
