Another Sieg X2 CNC conversion

Some background....Had this mini-mill for around six years. Bought an Acme lead screw based CNC conversion kit from LMS around three years ago but never got around to finishing the installation. Only did the X and Y axes. Wasn't satisfied with the performance or the Z-axis design.

Finally decided to start over from scratch using Roton ballscrews and ballnuts. Tried to make this simple using on hand tools and materials as much as possible. Here are the results starting here;

What else can I say but wow, great photos! They are worth 10,000 words since I am such a visual person. What size motors are those?

Thanks! Motors are probably no more than 40oz/in.

I just started to convert my microlux mill to cnc , thanks for the great pics. x2 "They are worth 10,000 words since I am such a visual person." after you annealed the ball screws how did they cut on your lathe? looks like you had a small 7x12 mini lathe ?

Parting wasn't a problem but would use HSS inserts instead of carbide for turning if ever I had to do it again. Lathe is a 7x14 Microlux circa 2003/2004.
