Very nice indeed. It is nice to see proper organization even if I can't find it in my own shop.
Your video does give me something to aspire to.

Super clean and organized. My shop is a mess, I better leave this thread before my wife sees this.

    Congratulations.

Did you make those bellows for the mill yourself? Is that a CNC conversion on the lathe?

This is just a hobby for me - I make parts for myself for remote control boats and make the odd part for fellow boaters , Mostly motor mounts but
have done the occasional odd part as in a weedeater trigger for the maintanance dept at my job or turned the commutator on some larger
electric motors . I have even made the odd part for my diesel truck motor

The bellows can be bought from the little machine shop on the web - Here is the link.

The cnc lathe conversion is all my design , I did a anti backlash gear drive on one and a lead screw drive on the other

Which one are you the happiest with? I've had people ask me how to convert a Taig lathe to CNC; are you sharing your designs?

I like the gear better - Deepgroove1 on Ebay has borrowed my design and sells a kit if you are interested in one . I have given him my blessing on replicating it .

    Hello and thank you

The two larger motors were bought from princess auto here in canada as a surplus item , they are a treadmill motor and I paid $35.00 dollars for each of them , The mill motor I took the casing in and had it chromed and would like to do the same for the manual electric lathe , The two cnc lathes to be honest I cant remember where I came upon the motors but they went through some extensive cleanup on the lathe and I painted the casings black , they are a low rpm 48 volt DC motor I never run them at full power through the router speed controller but they will take it if I did . The whole shop is a work in progress always looking for new improvements for greater versatility .

    Re: My Taig Machine shop

I am new here and new to CNC but not the components of it. I have bigger iron in my home shop but am retiring and moving to a condo so selling all that. My plan was to take an old Taig lathe I have and CNC that and buy a Taig mill. I saw Punisher's conversion and started something similar. I put a Nema 23 stepper with an oldham style coupling on the carriage and it works fine. However when I put the carriage back on the bed the weight of the stepper hanging off to one side seems to cause binding on the carriage as it travels the length of the bed. I tried adjusting the gibs but it never really gets "smooth". Is there a trick to this or do I need to get a lot lighter stepper?
    Thx much for any help!!
