My Series 3 Motion Upgrade drive plugs melted today

    Attachment 257802
Has this happen to anyone else with the upgrade? I haven't run the mill in about 3 weeks and today I smelled wires cooking. I looked and one drive plug was melted and a second drive was hot. I bought the kit 11 months ago and it has worked mint. Any help would be great.

Looks to me like the screws were loose, and/or the wires were not fully inserted into the connectors before the screws were tightened. Un-plug the connectors - are the pins in the driver burnt? I'm guessing not, in which case you simply need to strip the wires back a little, and properly install a new connector.

I think SCzEngrgGroup nailed it. When inserting wires into this type of connector I always make sure they are fully inserted and tight by tugging on the wire after I tighten the screw. Its quite possible for the screw to be tight and for the wire to have no tension on it at all. The pull test will always detect this.
