I just got mine (central machinery) older green model. No key. I measured the ID to be 8mm. Picked up a 5/16" keyway and it's far too large.
What size could it be and who would sell replacements?

So 5/16" is too large and 1/4" is too small. What else can it be?
This has pretty much got to be what you're looking for...
9/32'' LATHE CHUCK SAFETY WRENCH | FLEXBAR | 15470 | Keys | Lathe Accessories | Chucks & Keys | Machine Tool Accessories | KahnTools.com
Since you already have the 5/16" one though, you could also just grind down the edges a little.
Thanks, but that is far too much money
How about this one;
Chuck Key for 3" & 4" 4-Jaw Chucks - LittleMachineShop.com
It's listed as 7/32" and only $10
7/32nds is smaller then 1/4 inch.

9/32 is what I'm looking for.
Tried drilling something last night, what's the trick to getting my drill bit to be center with my work piece? it was pretty far off.
UPDATE: GOT ONE.
So 5/16 is .380. I bought a square 5/16 bar and filed it down and it worked, but couldn't find a 9/32 stock for cheap. So I took a chance and bought the 5/16 key from little machine shop for $12-13 shipped. it measures .314 and fits PERFECT. So I don't know how they measure these exactly but it worked out great
Sorry I meant the 5/16" square I bought from the hardware store was .380
then it was mislabeled 3/8 stock. you are dealing with chinese equipment so technically the chuck key holes are likely 8mm or .316 which is why 5/16 would fit.
I got it from home depot, tried a few locations actually and they were all the same size. Weird. If I knew that it would have saved me a LOT of headaches.
I tried looking for 8mm and nothing was metric there. But glad I got it figured out, now onto the next issues. Why my handles unscrew when I use them (i'll probably just lock tight them and why my tailstock is off of center)
