    LinuxCNC + USB breakout control

    Hi All,

I am using LinuxCNC for a year on my CNC.
Now i have buy a bigger much better one and found myslef buying a USB breakout controller board.

I have made some search a bit but didn'f found much.
Now i have try it on Mach3 but don't really like it...

Found some info about "hidcomp" but i don't know how to make all that work..

Anybody have solutions for me ?
    That would be greatly apreciated.

Won't work. LinuxCNC and USB controllers aren't compatible for machine control. You can use USB for input items like an MPG or game controller jogger.

    Thanks for the clarification.

Is there any development to include that in linuxcnc?

Not that I'm aware of. LinuxCNC depends on real time for the machine control, and USB in any of it's current iterations is not compatible with real time operations.

The price of robust interface hardware for linuxcnc has really come down. You can get a mesa 5I25 + 7i76 card combo that give you 5 axis hardware step generation, 48 i/o, +/-10volt analogue output, endoder counter (ttl or differential), and rs422 port. (and it is expandable) for $200. He has quite a few versions also including total analog for servo setups.
