    I/O 030 CHECK SUM ERROR

We have a lathe with a 11T control. They just changed the crt, now every so often we get this alarm. Differant programs, differant tools. Maintance say it's a programming issue, but some of these programs have run for several years with no problems. So i'm left with trying to figure out the problem so they can run without issues. I really need help to fix the issue. Thanks

Sounds like "they" knocked a plug or wire loose. Some connection issue would be my guess.

possibly some kind of electrical interference has corrupted the battery-backed memory. try clearing the memory and re-load parameters. be sure you back up parameters first BEFORE clearing.

    Fault cause
    .Measuring system not connected
    .Cable damaged
    .Glass scale dirty or damaged
    .Scanning head damaged
    .Measuring system supervision damaged

My guess is it's a position feedback device ... probably an encoder thats on the way out or got coolant in it. Hard to find but easy to fix.

I'm guessing they knocked something loose changing the CRT, like the I/O board mounted on the CRT frame !

Duh, only a maintenance person that's clueless about computers would say that. Shake your head yes and whatever you do don't let them within a foot of your machine. Sounds like the maintenance crew who took an almost brand new Mazak apart trying to get it to start ... turns out the Bijur was empty. Yes sur, them computer machines is just like my truck ... all they needs is some duct tape and a good ass-kicking

Re: I/O 030 CHECK SUM ERROR

This does NOT indicate a fault in the program , nor is it a battery problem. It is most likely a BMU problem.
This alarm indicates that a discrepancy exists in the part program directory on the BMU (or equivalent).
If possible, save all parameters (PC parameters can not be transferred through the serial poet), offsets, programs etc.
Power the control ON holding the + and - buttons until the IPL menu appears.
Choose CLEAR and press INPUT PB)
enter '7' and press INPUT PB
enter '15' and press INPUT PB
enter '6' and press INPUT PB
enter 'Y' and press INPUT PB
The control will be back to normal, without the part program.

I just had the same problem. What fixed it was to reload my bubble memory from scratch. Luckily I bout a Memex card that allowed me to do this with 2 buttons.
