So I am in the market for a new 400mm horizontal and fairly small, but robust vmc to create a new manufacturing cell with. Both machines will be machining aluminum and need to go fairly quick yet hold tight tolerances. The vertical needs to be able to surface quickly as well.

I would like to get both machines from the same manufacturer, but am having a hard time finding both a vertical and horizontal that both meet my needs. So far I have been looking at DMG and Makino and am leaning toward the makino a51nx horizontal and F3 vertical. They just seem to be better built than the DMG NHX4000 and their vertical line. Both are very similarly priced.

I have also been looking at OKK, Toyoda, and SNK mills as well. Could anyone shed some light as to their experiences with the Makinos specifically as well as their thoughts on how the others would compare? Thanks
