    Gibbs lathe argument

In gibbs I have a od turn.
the geometry is a straight line in the x plane
I am tring to offset this cut say 3" in the z direction, but because there is no Z geometry(line is in X only) it has no geometry to offset from and stays there. if I add even the smallest curve chamfer whatever, basically give it even one numerical geometric value for z to offset from, then it works.

he thinks it should work, anyway. and believes it used to, I call BS, there is no Z plane geometry to offset from, why would it offset.

    correct me if Im wrong.
It doesnt work, and I think it shouldnt, and never did.
