    Galil 1341

    Did I just waste $24?

    Recently I purchased a 4 axis DMC1341 Galil card. I thought what a deal.
Now, from what I read in the forums, it can't be used as 4 axis cnc controller without a special front end.
This sucks. (development of such would take too long)
Those who have started the GUI's for such cards, have either quit or have dropped out of the zone.

So what is a good 4 or 5 axis Galil card that is relatively affordable and modern enough to be run on a PC.

There was a couple of version, (the details I have lost) that were OEM special order and the firmware was proprietary so Galil did not offer any third party help due to confidentiality.
You may have one of these versions, and the reasons they are so cheap.
It depends on what front end S/W you intend running, the very cheapest is the Legacy DMC-1000 versions or stand alone DMC-1500 but the 1000 is ISA bus.
I have used them with an onlder front end S/W but it is not designed for G code. Just operator entry by self designed menu screens
Anything later with PCI bus can be run with Camsoft and a couple of others with Mach, the models will be on Mach forum.

Well, I have a feeling this will be a long journey, with very little support, unless you have wads of cash to purchase the Camsoft program.

Looks like the DMC-1341 is built for DMC bus only. Again, why the're so cheap!

Yup, That pretty much seals the deal. I guess I'll have to look at something else.
