    G0759 Mill

I am considering purchasing a G0704. However, is anyone familiar with the quality of the DRO included with the new G0759? Would you recommend buying the G0759 or buy the G0704 and a separate DRO? If so, which DRO would you suggest? Thanks.

the only thing I can say is it uses glass scales without a doubt. judging by the pictures, it will probably be similar to this kit
it's not a cheap kit, it's going to be a heck of a lot better than the magnetic scales I use for sure. what will set this apart the most is the computer. this one is a cheaper version compared to a fagor. I would say go for it even if you CNC this machine in the long run the glass scales will serve as an excellent secondary encoder.

you are not going to get a 3 axes dro for $500.00 shipped to your door eney where else. So if a dro is what you wan't that is the best deal. Hay and if you go cnc in a year or 2 you can sell me the dro for half that.

I contacted Grizzly for the specs on the DRO. It is a 2-Axis unit and further info could be found in the following link.

They better do some correcting then because the DRO they show installed on the g0759 is a 3 axis unit with a Z axis scale clearly installed.
Either you weren't given the correct info or they could be in trouble for false advertising, I'm betting the former.
Going by the pics I think this is the unit on the g0759. Grizzly.com

I guess that may say something about their technical service. However, I have never dealt with them before, so who knows. I am going to purchase the G0704 tomorrow, and also interested in a DRO. That is why I asked about the G0759. Here is the actual reply to my inquire.

"We appreciate your question concerning a DRO for the G0704 Mill. The DRO that comes mounted on the G0759 Mill/ Drill with Stand and DRO is the H6087 8" x 20" 2-Axis Digital Readout for Mills. I have provided a link for your viewing:"

Yeah, wouldn't be the first time they were incorrect.
You might want to reply back with what I told you so they can get the facts straight.

    Re: G0759 Mill

I spoke with technical service today and was assured that the mill comes equipped with a 3-axis DRO similar to Grizzly.com. I am planning on using machine mounts for the cabinet to assist with leveling. However, technical service didn't have a clue in terms of what size(s) could be used. I wanted to order them with the machine, so they would available when the mill arrived.
